    Abstract: A battery capacity detection device and the method for the same are disclosed. The charge time for the capacitor in an RC circuit and a lookup table are employed to determine the charge capacity of the battery. The disclosed device uses a microprocessor with a programmable pin to form a discharge loop that controls the RC circuit. Therefore, the microprocessor can measure the current charge capacity of the battery after each time the capacitor discharges by measuring the time needed for the capacitor to get fully charged.

    Abstract: A piezo-resistive thermal detection apparatus for detecting the temperature of fluid inside a cavity device, such as the temperature of ink inside an inkjet print head. The apparatus includes a detection region and a plurality of piezo-resistive devices. The detection region is disposed on the inkjet print head in the form of a rectangle and made of a semiconductor material. The piezo-resistive devices are disposed on centers of each side of the detection region, wherein stresses produced by deformation of the piezo-resistive devices are exerted on the piezo-resistive devices. When the temperature of the ink rises, the surface of the inkjet print head is heated and expands, resulting in the deformation of the thermal detection apparatus. The piezo-resistive devices experience large amounts of stress due to the deformation of the thermal detection apparatus and thus the resistances of the piezo-resistive devices change. The piezo-resistive devices are connected together in the form of a circuit bridge so that a voltage signal indicative of the changes in their resistances can be outputted. According to the voltage signal outputted, the temperature of the ink is obtained.

The logic operating unit receives a power pulse signal generated by a power button when the power button is pressed. The power converting module receives the power enabling signal and generates an internal voltage by converting an external voltage according to the power enabling signal. The power management module receives the internal voltage and the power pulse signal, and latches a generating state of the internal voltage according to the power pulse signal to generate a power stable signal.     Abstract: An automatic power control system, a down sampling circuit and a down sampling method. The automatic power control system is incorporated in an optical disc drive comprising a laser diode for receiving a control signal to generate a laser beam; and a photodetector for detecting the laser beam to generate an analog input signal. The automatic power control system comprises an analog-to-digital converter, a down sampling circuit, a comparator, and a digital-to-analog converter. The analog-to-digital converter converts the analog input signal to digital data. The down sampling circuit, coupled to the analog-to-digital converter, comprises a down sampler, a counter, and a controller. The down sampler receives a predetermined amount of digital data to generate representation data. The counter, coupled to the down sampler, calculates the amount of digital data, and resets the down sampler when the amount equals or exceeds the predetermined count. The controller, coupled to the counter, disables the counter when the digital data is invalid. The comparator, coupled to the down sampling circuit, compares the representation data with predetermined target data to generate error data. The digital-to-analog converter, coupled to the comparator, converts the error data to analog to generate the control signal.
