Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently identifying spatial parameters for receiving control information in an initial coreset. In one example, a user equipment (UE) may receive a TCI state indicating reference signals quasi co-located with a control information transmission in a coreset, and the UE may also identify a quasi co-location (QCL) assumption in a random-access procedure indicating that a synchronization signal block (SSB) is quasi co-located with the control information transmission in the coreset. In this example, the UE may identify spatial parameters for monitoring the coreset for the control information transmission in accordance with the TCI state or the QCL assumption based on the timing of the indicated TCI state and the QCL assumption.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a beam configuration for each physical cell identifier (PCI) of a set of candidate PCIs. A beam configuration for a PCI may include, for example, transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states for downlink channels and reference signals or spatial relations for uplink channels and reference signals. The UE may receive an indication of a selected subset of PCIs of the set of candidate PCIs. The UE may apply the beam configuration for each PCI of the selected subset of PCIs based on the indication of the selected subset of PCIs. The UE may then communicate according to the beam configurations for the selected subset of PCIs.

In an example, the aspects may include receiving, from a network entity, a request to enable soft ACK/NACK feedback; enabling the soft ACK/NACK feedback based on the request, where the soft ACK/NACK feedback comprises at least a link quality metric per diversity branch; and transmitting, to the network entity, the soft ACK/NACK feedback based on a determination to enable the soft ACK/NACK feedback.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to support transmission of a resource modification information request from a user equipment (UE) to a base station, where the resource modification request may request an increased density of uplink transmission occasions. For example, the resource modification request may request an increase from a first density of uplink transmission occasions configured for the UE. The resource modification request may include a request for a decreased periodicity of uplink transmission occasions, an increased number of groups of repetitions for uplink transmission occasions, an increased number of resource blocks for uplink transmission occasions, or an increased modulation coding scheme for uplink transmission occasions. The base station may receive the resource modification request and may transmit a message to the UE, which may indicate a modified or new uplink grant configuration for uplink transmission occasions having a higher density (e.g., a second density).

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to reported channel state information (CSI) reference signal (RS) resource indicator (CRI)/synchronization signal block resource indicator (SSBRI) and maximum resource number for Layer 1 signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR). In one aspect, a user equipment (UE) may receive a CSI report configuration that includes a report quantity parameter set to indicate use of a SINR, obtain an SINR measurement, and transmit a CSI report including the SINR measurement to the network entity. In another aspect, a network entity may transmit a CSI report configuration that includes a report quality parameter set to indicate use of a SINR, the report quantity parameter is configured to trigger the UE to measure the SINR of at least one communication channel associated with the network entity, and receive a CSI report including an SINR measurement from the UE.

Abstract: Embodiments include methods that may be performed by a processor of a mobile device and a processor of a base station for managing beam failure recovery (BFR). The processor of the mobile device may determine whether a beam failure of a communication link with a base station has occurred, determine whether contention free random access (CFRA) resources have been configured in response to determining that a beam failure has occurred, and initiate contention based random access (CBRA) in response to determining that CFRA resources have not been configured. The processor of the base station may receive from the mobile device a message initiating CBRA, determine whether a downlink beam or quasi-colocation (QCL) assumption a downlink resource of a physical random access channel (PRACH) is different from any active downlink beam or QCL assumption, and perform CBRA with the mobile device.

A wireless device may identify a characteristic of a first beam associated with a first antenna array, determine a second beam associated with a second antenna array as a quasi-co-located beam with respect to the first beam based on the characteristic, and communicate on the first and second beams based on the determining. A base station may identify a user equipment (UE) searching for a connection with a secondary cell on a second frequency band, wherein the UE is served by the base station on a first frequency band and transmit an indicator to the UE to inform the UE regarding selection of a particular beam for measuring a reference signal from the secondary cell.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may attempt to connect to a base station using a random access procedure. During the random access procedure, the base station may transmit control information and data associated with a random access response (RAR) during an RAR window. The UE may identify a channel quality and may transmit a random access request of a first type to the base station. The base station may receive the random access request and transmit repeating instances of the control information or the data, or both, based on identifying that the random access request is of the first type. The UE may use soft-combining to increase the likelihood of successfully decoding the control information and the data associated with the RAR, and likewise may increase the likelihood of successfully receiving the RAR from the base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may attempt to connect to a base station using a random access procedure. During the random access procedure, the base station may transmit control information associated with a random access response (RAR) during a RAR window. The UE may attempt to receive a single instance of the control information and, in some cases, may be unable to receive and decode the single instance of the control information. The base station may configure one or more RAR windows (or segment(s) thereof) to support transmitting repeating instances of the control information and/or RAR. The UE may identify a quantity of instances of the repeated control information and combine the instances. The UE may successfully decode the combined instances of control information and identify a location for receiving the RAR.
