Abstract: A technique manages a computing system based on a client/server architecture. In particular, an address mapping of a storage system is managed. The address mapping includes an association between storage spaces in a plurality of storage devices in the storage system and a user of the storage system. A data access service is provided to a client associated with the user based on the address mapping. The client includes at least any one of a user data client for accessing user data associated with the user in the storage system and a control data client for accessing control data associated with the user. Based on a client/server architecture, a uniform management mode is provided for user data and control data, so that the storage system is managed more simply and effectively.

Abstract: A system for a visual design system (VDS) includes storing at least one layout and an associated layout signature where the associated layout signature represents a hierarchical composition of the semantic types of the components; a unit to analyze components of an existing layout provided by a user of the VDS, to determine a component set signature, to compare it with at least one stored associated layout signature and to find a set of candidate layouts which are visually diverse and semantically similar to the existing layout; where the unit presents the set of candidate layouts to the user, updates the existing layout according to a user selected layout. It also includes an experiment system to create, run and analyze the results of at least one experiment using at least one of: A/B and multivariate testing on user selected layouts to provide information on user preferred layouts for the VDS.

Abstract: A desktop computing system having at least a central core surrounded by housing having a shape that defines a volume in which the central core resides is described. The housing includes a first opening and a second opening axially displaced from the first opening. The first opening having a size and shape in accordance with an amount of airflow used as a heat transfer medium for cooling internal components, the second opening defined by a lip that engages a portion of the airflow in such a way that at least some of the heat transferred to the air flow from the internal components is passed to the housing.

Abstract: A mobile data storage device (DSD) incorporating a mobile data storage device (DSD), the mobile DSD comprising a non-volatile storage medium configured to store user data, a data path configured to transmit at least data between the mobile DSD and a host computer system, a housing having a machine readable optical code and a controller. The controller is configured to receive, from the data path, a request to restore the mobile DSD to factory settings. The controller also receives, from the data path, a unique access passcode derived from the machine readable optical code. The controller validates the unique access passcode, and, in response to determining that the unique access passcode is valid, restores the mobile DSD to factory settings.

Abstract: A method is provided for use in a storage processor, the method comprising: receiving a write request, the write request including a request to store user data in an array that includes a plurality of solid-state drives (SSD); executing the write request by: identifying metadata that is associated with the write request, and writing the user data and the metadata to different data streams that are opened on the plurality of SSDs; wherein writing the user data and the metadata to different data streams causes: (i) the user data to be stored in one or more first erase units of any of the plurality of SSDs, and (ii) the metadata to be stored in one or more second erase units of any of the plurality of SSDs, such that no part of the metadata is stored on any of the one or more first erase units, and no part of the user data is stored on any of the one or more second erase units.
