Abstract: Systems and methods for the selection of a network interface/CDN pair from among multiple network interface/CDN pairs are provided. In an embodiment, a method includes retrieving information about sets of CDNs accessible via different network interfaces of a device. A plurality of network interface/CDN pairs are then identified, and performance metrics for each pair are measured. A best pair is selected, and is used to retrieve the next segments of a requested content item.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for managing media bandwidth usage. In some aspects, a request for an image in a first resolution is received. It is determined that communicating the image in the first resolution violates a network connection state restriction for a network connection with a computing device. Based on determining that communicating the image in the first resolution violates the network connection state restriction, the image in a second resolution that is lower than the first resolution is retrieved. The image in the second resolution can be presented at the computing device.

Abstract: A system of multi-modal transmission of packetized data in a voice activated data packet based computer network environment is provided. A natural language processor component can parse an input audio signal to identify a request and a trigger keyword. Based on the input audio signal, a direct action application programming interface can generate a first action data structure, and a content selector component can select a content item. An interface management component can identify first and second candidate interfaces, and respective resource utilization values. The interface management component can select, based on the resource utilization values, the first candidate interface to present the content item. The interface management component can provide the first action data structure to the client computing device for rendering as audio output, and can transmit the content item converted for a first modality to deliver the content item for rendering from the selected interface.

Abstract: The system trains a machine learning model using a loss function, with a part that penalizes overall signal loss, and a second part of the loss function that penalizes texture loss. The system computes a first neural feature of a first media frame stored by a media server using the trained machine learning model. The system causes a client device to receive a second media frame as a part of a media stream from the media server where the second frame is a modified version of the first media frame. The system causes the client to compute a second neural feature of the second media frame using the trained machine learning model, and compute a QoE metric based on the first neural feature and the second neural feature. The system receives the QoE metric, and uses it to modify at least one parameter of the media stream.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods, apparatus and systems for improving a systems-level data rate on a communications link such as the orthogonal frequency division multiplexed multiple access (OFDMA) downlink used in WiFi and LTE cellular/wireless mobile data applications. The present invention preferably uses a form of multilevel coding and decoding known as tiled-building-block encoding/decoding. With the present invention, different receivers coupled to different parallel downlink channels with different channel qualities decode different received signal constellations at different levels of resolution. This allows the downlink of the OFDMA system to operate with a significantly higher data rate, thus eliminating existing inefficiencies in the downlink and significantly increasing system level bandwidth efficiency.

Abstract: A method and processing unit for creating and rendering synchronized content for content rendering environment are described in present disclosure. Initially, live content rendered to users in content rendering environment is received. Further, inputs from first user, and optionally from one or more second users is collected during rendering of live content. The inputs comprises user inputs provided in at least one of virtual environment and user actions in real-world environment. Inputs are collected along with at least one of corresponding time stamp and corresponding spatial stamp in content rendering environment. Upon collecting inputs, live content is synchronized with the inputs based on at least one of the time and spatial stamp, and context mapping of the inputs with segments of the live content to output a synchronized content. By rendering such synchronized content to the user, replication of live rendering of the content may be experienced by the user.
