Abstract: A battery includes a plurality of energy storage units, a flexible linkage arranged to physically and electrically connect each adjacent pair of energy storage units, and an encapsulation arranged to encapsulate the energy storage units and the linkages. The energy storage units are movable with respect to each other via the flexible linkage within each adjacent pair of energy storage units in the encapsulation.

Abstract: A method includes, by a folding station: receiving an anode assembly including anode collectors connected by anode interconnects and coated with a separator; receiving a cathode assembly including cathode collectors connected by cathode interconnects; locating a first anode collector over a folding stage; locating a first cathode collector over the first anode collector to form a first battery cell between the first anode collector and the first cathode collector; folding a first anode interconnect to locate a second anode collector over the first cathode collector to form a second battery cell between the first cathode collector and the second anode collector; folding a first cathode interconnect to locate a second cathode collector over the second anode collector to form a third battery cell between the second anode collector and the second cathode collector; wetting the separator with solvated ions; and loading the anode and cathode assemblies into a battery housing.

Abstract: An electrode assembly may include positive and negative electrode sheets, the positive and negative electrode sheets including positive and negative electrode current collectors and positive and negative electrode active material layers. The negative electrode sheet may be continuously bent and include a plurality of laminated segments and a plurality of bent segments for connecting the laminated segments; a plurality of the positive electrode sheets may be alternately laminated with the plurality of laminated segments in a first direction. An outermost positive electrode sheet may be a unilateral electrode having the positive electrode active material layer coated on an inner side rather than outer side of the positive electrode current collector thereof. The bent segment may be connected to an end of the laminated segment in a second direction; and the unilateral electrode may not extend beyond the adjacent bent segment.

Abstract: A battery of the present disclosure includes a first electrode layer, a first solid electrolyte layer, and a second electrode layer in this order. The first electrode layer includes: a first active material layer; a second active material layer positioned between the first active material layer and the first solid electrolyte layer, the second active material layer having the same polarity as the first active material layer has; and a second solid electrolyte layer positioned between the first active material layer and the second active material layer. The second solid electrolyte layer is continuous with the first solid electrolyte layer. A stacked battery of the present disclosure includes a plurality of the batteries, and the plurality of batteries are stacked so as to be electrically connected in series or in parallel.

Abstract: One variation of a battery unit includes: a series of anode collectors; a set of anode electrodes including anode material arranged on both side of the anode collectors; a set of anode interconnects interposed between and electrically coupling adjacent anode collectors and folded to locate the anode collectors in a boustrophedonic anode stack; a series of cathode collectors; a set of cathode electrodes including cathode material arranged on both side of the cathode collectors; a set of cathode interconnects interposed between and electrically coupling adjacent cathode collectors and folded to locate the cathode collectors in a boustrophedonic cathode stack with cathode collectors interdigitated between anode collectors in the boustrophedonic anode stack; and a set of separators arranged between the anode and cathode electrodes and transporting solvated ions between the anode and cathode electrodes.

Abstract: A battery includes an electrode layer, a counter electrode layer, which is a counter electrode for the electrode layer, and a solid electrolyte layer between the electrode layer and the counter electrode layer. The solid electrolyte layer has a first region containing a first solid electrolyte material and a second region containing a second solid electrolyte material. The first region is positioned within a region where the electrode layer and the counter electrode layer face each other. The second region is positioned on an outer peripheral side of the region where the electrode layer and the counter electrode layer face each other, and is in contact with the first region. The first region includes a first projecting portion that projects outward from a region where the electrode layer and the counter electrode layer face each other, and the second region covers the first projecting portion.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an electrode assembly and a secondary battery. The electrode assembly includes a first electrode plate, a second electrode plate and a separator. The first gap corresponds to the corner region in position, the second gap corresponds to the main region in position, and a dimension of the first gap is larger than a dimension of the second gap.
