Abstract: Secondary batteries and methods of manufacture thereof are provided. A secondary battery can comprise an offset between electrode and counter-electrode layers in a unit cell. Secondary batteries can be prepared by removing a population of negative electrode subunits from a negative electrode sheet, the negative electrode sheet comprising a negative electrode sheet edge margin and at least one negative electrode sheet weakened region that is internal to the negative electrode sheet edge margin, removing a population of separator layer subunits from a separator sheet, and removing a population of positive electrode subunits from a positive electrode sheet, the positive electrode sheet comprising a positive electrode edge margin and at least one positive electrode sheet weakened region that is internal to the positive electrode sheet edge margin, and stacking members of the negative electrode subunit population, the separator layer subunit population and the positive electrode subunit population.

Abstract: A battery module according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: a housing receiving a plurality of battery cells and including a bottom plate and a lateral plate; and a connection board disposed at one end or both ends of the housing, wherein the connection board is bonded to the lateral plate. The lateral plate may include a plurality of bus bar supporting members, at least some among the plurality of bus bar supporting members having a hooking protrusion protruded upward. The connection board may include a hooking member having a hooking groove opened downward. Thus, the hooking protrusion may be inserted into the hooking groove in a state in which the connection board is bonded to the lateral plate.

Abstract: A battery with a casing and a stack arranged within the casing. First electrodes and second electrodes are arranged alternately in the stack with the interposition of a separator. The first electrodes are electrically connected to a first battery terminal integrated into the casing, the second electrodes are electrically connected to a second battery terminal integrated into the casing. The electrodes each have an electrically conductive substrate and an active material layer on at least one side of the substrate. The transverse projections of the substrates of the first electrodes and/or the transverse projections of the substrates of the second electrodes are connected to a thermally conductive element. The at least one conductive element contacts the casing and/or forms a section thereof.
