Abstract:
The level of a respiration signal obtained from a laser sensor or the like is indicated on a respiration monitor according to an output condition set by synchronizing signal output control device. While the level of the respiration signal is indicated on the respiration monitor, a synchronizing signal output device outputs a synchronizing signal according to the output condition and the respiration signal to an X-ray control device, which controls a high-voltage generating device to energize an X-ray source to apply X-rays to an examinee.
Abstract:
A radiotherapy monitoring apparatus for monitoring a treatment state by irradiation of radiations on a treatment region includes a flat panel detector that detects the radiations transmitted through the treatment region at least in two places, a comparing unit that compares a relative value of the transmitted radiations in the two places with a reference relative value, and control signal generating units that generate, when the relative value exceeds the reference relative value, a control signal for stopping the irradiation of the radiations.
Abstract:
A method and system for physiological gating for radiation therapy is disclosed. A method and system for detecting and predictably estimating regular cycles of physiological activity or movements is disclosed. Another disclosed aspect of the invention is directed to predictive actuation of gating system components. Yet another disclosed aspect of the invention is directed to physiological gating of radiation treatment based upon the phase of the physiological activity.
Abstract:
A radiation system includes a radiation source having an accelerator, the radiation source having a magnetic field associated therewith that is resulted from an operation of the accelerator, and a magnetic field source configured to provide a compensating magnetic field to at least partially counteract against the magnetic field that is resulted from the operation of the accelerator. A radiation system includes a radiation device having a radiation source, a patient support, and a protective guard located between the radiation source and the patient support, wherein the protective guard is moveably coupled to the radiation device or the patient support. A radiation system includes a particle generator for generating a particle, an accelerator for accelerating the particle, and a magnetic source for changing a trajectory of the particle, wherein the magnetic source comprises a permanent magnet.
Abstract:
A method for processing x-ray images includes collecting a first x-ray image and a second x-ray image, determining a composite image based on the first and second x-ray images, collecting a third x-ray image, and adjusting the third x-ray image based on the composite image. Another method of processing x-ray images includes obtaining a first x-ray image, obtaining a second x-ray image, and determining a composite image based on at least a portion of the first and second x-ray images.
Abstract:
A method of assisting recovery of an injury site of brain or spinal cord injury includes providing a therapeutic dose of X-ray radiation to the injury site through an array of parallel microplanar beams. The dose at least temporarily removes regeneration inhibitors from the irradiated regions. Substantially unirradiated cells surviving between the microplanar beams migrate to the in-beam irradiated portion and assist in recovery. The dose may be administered in dose fractions over several sessions, separated in time, using angle-variable intersecting microbeam arrays (AVIMA). Additional doses may be administered by varying the orientation of the microplanar beams. The method may be enhanced by injecting stem cells into the injury site.
Abstract:
Apparatus for correcting positional deviations of at least one area of a subject along one or more subject position axes. The apparatus comprises: (a) a distance-measuring component which employs a phase difference between two oscillatory signals to measure and monitor changes in the position of a subject area; (b) storage means for storing information corresponding to the prior and later spatial positions of the area; (c) a support upon which the subject may lie; (d) calculating means for determining, from the stored information, a deviation in spatial position of the area from its prior spatial position along the first subject position axis and translatory motion of the area which will restore the area to its prior spatial position along the first subject position axis, and generating at least one repositioning signal which transmits information corresponding to the translatory motion of either the support or the area necessary to restore the area to its prior spatial position along the first subject position axis; and (e) a position controller which can at least reposition the support in response to the repositioning signal.
Abstract:
A method of prompting a patient includes informing a patient a relationship between a result of an activity being performed by the patient and a first target result to be achieved by the activity. A method of prompting a patient includes informing a patient a relationship between a time and a target result to be achieved by an activity. A method of prompting a patient includes informing a patient a relationship between a position of a portion of the patient and a first target position for the portion.
