Abstract: The disclosure relates to reduced signaling to carry out the linking between new radio (NR) carrier aggregation (CA) band combinations and NR band processing combinations (BPCs), and includes apparatus and methods of receiving, at a modem of a user equipment (UE), a UE configuration from a base station based on UE band combination constraint information, configuring the UE, by a processor of the UE, according to the UE configuration, and performing a communication with the base station, via the modem of the UE, according to the UE configuration. In an implementation, the disclosure includes transmitting the UE band combination constraint information, such as in the form of receiving a total number of layers supported in a CA band combination, and wherein receiving the UE configuration further comprises receiving a CA combination and a BPC configuration in response to the UE band combination constraint information.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a first slot format configuration for a first cell associated with a first radio access technology (RAT) and a first radio frequency spectrum band that conflicts with a second slot format configuration for a second cell associated with a second RAT and a second radio frequency spectrum band during at least a portion of a transmission time interval (TTI). The UE may determine that the first cell has a priority over the second cell, based on the configured slot formats or based on the radio frequency bands, and may drop a communication on the second cell based on the identified priority. The UE may then communicate during at least a portion of the TTI on the first cell while the UE drops a communication on the second cell.

Abstract: A device may selectively listen for a tracking reference signal (TRS) during connected mode discontinuous reception (CDRx) based on whether the device is to switch between repeaters of a base station (such as during travel). A device may determine whether the device is in a high speed train (HST) scenario (such as based on a difference in frequency errors generated using a synchronization signal block (SSB) and generated using a TRS, based on a trajectory of a frequency error or a frequency error difference over time, based on instantaneous frequency errors, etc.). When the device is in a HST scenario, the device listens for a TRS during CDRx, and the device generates a frequency error using the TRS. When the device is not in a HST scenario, the device prevents listening for a TRS during CDRx (with a SSB received during CDRx to be used to generate a frequency error).

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus maybe a base station or a UE. In an aspect, the apparatus may determine locations for a number of DM-RS symbols to be transmitted in a scheduling unit of a channel configured in a slot/mini-slot, where a last DM-RS symbol maybe positioned one symbol prior to a last symbol carrying scheduled data. In another aspect, the apparatus may determine the locations for the DM-RS symbols based on a selection between a first set of predetermined DM-RS positions and a second set of predetermined DM-RS positions. In another aspect, the apparatus may determine the locations for the DM-RS symbols based on a set number of symbols, wherein the determined locations are spaced apart according to the set number of symbols. The apparatus may transmit the DM-RS symbols based on the determined locations.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for mutual information based polar code construction. A wireless device may receive a codeword over a wireless channel, the codeword encoded using a polar code. The wireless device may identify a set of bit locations of the polar code corresponding to information bits of an encoded information bit vector. The set of bit locations may be determined based at least in part on a reliability order of the bit locations of the polar code, and the reliability order may be determined based at least in part on a recursive model that includes at least one mutual information transfer function that is applied at each polarization stage of multiple polarization stages of the polar code. The wireless device may decode the received codeword to obtain the information bit vector at the set of bit locations.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to retransmissions of data within wireless communication networks. For a retransmission, at least a portion of the encoded bits of an original transmission may be mapped to different bit locations in one or more modulated symbols based on a non-random mapping rule. In some examples, the encoded bits of a symbol may be reversed within the symbol for a retransmission. In other examples, the first and last encoded bits within a symbol may be switched for a retransmission. Other non-random mapping rules, such as a bit location offset, may also be used to map encoded bits to different bit locations in the modulated symbol within a retransmission.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. One method includes identifying a set of punctured bit locations in a received codeword. The received codeword is encoded using a polar code. The method also includes identifying a set of information bit locations of the polar code, with the set of information bit locations being determined based at least in part on polarization weights per polarized bit-channel of a polar code decoder that are a function of nulled repetition operations per polarization stage of the polar code identified based at least in part on the set of punctured bit locations. The method further includes processing the received codeword using the polar code decoder to obtain an information bit vector at the set of information bit locations.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for generation of an encoded transport block (TB) that includes a number of systematic code blocks (CBs) and a number of parity CBs. The systematic CBs may be transmitted to a receiver, and the receiver may attempt to decode the systematic CBs. In some cases, one or more parity CBs may be transmitted with the systematic CBs, and the systematic CBs may be successfully decoded even in the event that one or more of the systematic CBs are not successfully received. In some cases, a receiver may provide feedback that requests that additional CBs be transmitted to decode the systematic CBs that were received, and it is not necessary to retransmit the missing systematic CBs. In some cases, a quantized value of a number of additional CBs needed to decode the TB may be transmitted.

Abstract: Decoding and encoding methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. One method may include receiving a codeword over a wireless channel, the codeword being encoded using a polar code, identifying a set of repeated bit locations in the received codeword, and identifying a set of bit locations of the polar code used for information bits for the encoding. The set of bit locations may be determined based at least in part on recursively partitioning bit-channels of the polar code for each stage of polarization and assigning portions of a number of the information bits to bit-channel partitions of each stage of polarization based on a mutual information transfer function of respective aggregate capacities of the bit-channel partitions. The method may also include decoding the received codeword according to the polar code to obtain an information bit vector at the set of bit locations, and other aspects and features.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device may initiate a successive decoding process for an encoded code block received at the wireless device, and generate, using a successive decoder, one or more candidate paths for a first portion of the code block, where the first portion of the code block includes a first data portion and a first data check portion. The wireless device may then perform a checking function on respective first data portions for the one or more candidate paths using respective first data check portions, and determine whether to terminate the successive decoding process prior to completing decoding of the encoded code block based at least in part on determining whether the checking function for each of the one or more candidate paths for the first data portion has failed the checking function.
