Abstract: A video decoder may be configured to receive a block of video data that was encoded using a coding mode that includes a search process in one or more reference frames. The video decoder may prefetch reference samples in a fixed search region of at least one reference frame of the one or more reference frames, and decode the block of video data using the coding mode, including performing the search process for the coding mode using the prefetched reference samples.

Abstract: Devices and techniques are disclosed for coding video data. An example device includes one or more memories configured to store the video data and one or more processors coupled to the one or more memories. The one or more processors are configured to determine to code a first block of the video data using intra block copy merge mode with block vector differences (IBC-MBVD). Abstract: An example device includes memory configured to store the video data and one or more processors implemented in circuitry and communicatively coupled to the memory. The one or more processors are configured to determine at least one of a temporal candidate or a history-based candidate and determine at least one non-adjacent candidate, wherein the at least one non-adjacent candidate is from a unit that is not adjacent to a current prediction unit (PU). The one or more processors are configured to determine an advanced motion vector predictor (AMVP) candidate list including the at least one of the temporal candidate or the history-based candidate and the at least one non-adjacent candidate. The at least one non-adjacent candidate is added to the AMVP candidate list after the temporal candidate or before the history-based candidate. The one or more processors are configured to code the current PU based on the AMVP candidate list.

Abstract: A video coder is configured to form, in a symmetric motion vector difference mode, a List 0 (L0) base vector using a L0 Advanced Motion Vector Prediction (AMVP) candidate list and a List 1 (L1) base vector using a L1 AMVP candidate list; determine a refined L0 motion vector and a refined L1 motion vector by performing a decoder-side motion vector refinement process that refines the L0 base vector and the L1 base vector; and use the refined L0 motion vector and the refined L1 motion vector to determine a prediction block for a current block of a current picture of the video data.
