Abstract:
A base-station (BS) receiving a random access request from user equipment (a UE), followed by a connection request. The connection request contains UE identity information which may have one of multiple formats depending on whether the access request and/or the connection request indicate that the UE is operating as a bandwidth-limited (BL) UE, an enhanced coverage (CE) UE, or a UE that operates in neither the BL mode nor the CE mode. In the BL mode, the UE may transmit a truncated identifier that is sufficient for the BS to retrieve capability information for the UE prior to transmitting a resource grant to the UE. The BS may then configure the UE and BS to using a radio configuration optimized for the UE's capabilities and transmit the resource grant in accordance with the optimized configuration.
Abstract:
A method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided for wireless communication at a User Equipment (UE). The UE receives a second random access message from the base station after transmitting a first random access message. The second random access message comprises a random access response (RAR) that indicates a narrowband to be used for receiving a fourth random access message. The apparatus determines whether to perform a measurement of the narrowband for the fourth random access message based on an amount of time between receiving the second random access message and transmitting a third random access message. The base station may determine whether the report comprises a measurement of the first narrowband or the second narrowband based on an amount of time between the second random access message and the third random access message or based on an indication in the third random access message.
Abstract:
Various features presented herein facilitate early data transmission (EDT) in eMTC and NB-IoT. In certain aspects, a UE (e.g., an eMTC and/or NB-IoT type device), may receive an indication in a SIB from a base station that may enable EDT by the UE. The UE may transmit a random access request based on the SIB. The UE may further receive an MCS index in an RAR, and transmit a connection request (e.g., Msg3) to the base station based on the MCS index and the indication in the SIB. Some aspects described herein relate to an improved rate matching technique. In certain aspects, a UE may be configured to transmit a connection request message to a base station based on at least one of an increased number of RVs than a number of RVs for other transmissions from the UE or rate matching performed across more than one subframe.
Abstract:
In an example, a method of communication of a UE may include establishing, by the UE, a connection with a base station. The method may include sending, by the UE to the base station, UE capability information in response to a trigger. The UE capability information may be based on whether one or more capabilities of the UE differs or is the same between a first coverage mode and a second coverage mode. In another example, a method of communication of a UE may include establishing, by the UE, a connection with a base station. The method may include sending, to the base station, first UE capability information in response to a first trigger. The method may include sending, by the UE to the base station, second UE capability information in response to a second trigger. The second UE capability information may be different from the first UE capability information.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for optimizing delivery of a small amount of mobile originated (MO) or mobile terminated (MT) data.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications and, more particularly, to adjusting how certain types of devices wake up and/or stay awake for broadcast service. A method for wireless communications is provided that may be performed by a user equipment (UE). The method includes receiving a power savings configuration indicating sleep periods during which the UE is scheduled to be unreachable. The method includes determining at least one time, during at least a portion of one of the indicated sleep periods, for the UE to be awake in order to at least one of: receive or discover Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (MBMS) user services.
Abstract:
The present patent application improves DARP by allowing multiple users on one time slot (MUROS). It comprises means and instructions for signaling training sequence set information to a remote station, comprising receiving signaling from a remote station indicating if a new set of training sequences is supported, and using a channel description to signal the training sequence set to be used by the remote station for a communication channel being established. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
