Abstract: A method of transmitting broadcast data by a broadcast receiver includes connecting the broadcast receiver with a companion device; receiving a request for Electronic Service Guide (ESG) data from the companion device; and transmitting the broadcast data including partial or full ESG information of the ESG data to the companion device based on a type of the request. The ESG data includes a content fragment including an extension element including a component element, and the component element including at least one of a video component element describing a role of a video component, an audio component element describing a role of an audio component, a closed caption component element describing a role of a closed caption component, or an application component element describing a role of an application component, and a capability element for the at least one of the video component or the audio component.

Abstract: A method of providing a broadcast content, comprising: receiving a broadcast content from an external input source, the broadcast content derived from a broadcast stream, wherein the broadcast content includes a plurality of watermarks carrying fragments of full watermark information, wherein the full watermark information includes first URL data and second URL data, the first URL data including signaling bits which identify a portion of a final URL, the second URL data including the rest of the final URL, wherein values of the signaling bits are pre-assigned to specific URL strings, wherein the full watermark information further includes type information and point information, the type information specifying type of a corresponding watermark, and the point information identifying where the corresponding watermark is embedded in the broadcast content; extracting the watermarks from the broadcast content; re-assembling the full watermark information using the watermarks.

Abstract: A method of processing a broadcast signal including an interactive broadcast service at a transmitter is disclosed. The method comprises generating an parameter table containing metadata about applications and interactive broadcast events targeted to the applications, dividing the parameter table into a plurality of parameter blocks, inserting each of the parameter blocks into each of a plurality of parameter table sections, generating a trigger which is a signaling element to identify signaling and establish timing of playout of the interactive broadcast events, inserting the trigger into a closed caption channel of the broadcast signal, transmitting the broadcast signal including the closed caption channel and a specific channel carrying the plurality of parameter table sections, wherein the trigger includes location information specifying a location of the parameter table in the broadcast signal.
