Abstract:
Disclosed is a computer system in which a driver for controlling a non-PCI device can be installed using a plug and play function of the PCI device. In a computer system having the PCI devices, a configuration space header region of a virtual PCI device that stores the vendor ID and the device ID of the virtual PCI device corresponding to a non-CPI device is provided on a medium to which a system BIOS can refer. At the time of booting, in order to search for a PCI device included in the system, an operating system inquires the system BIOS. The system BIOS returns the vendor ID and the device ID of the PCI device, for the PCI device included in the system, and returns the vendor ID and the device ID of the virtual PCI device, for the non-PCI device. Then, the operating system searches for a driver for the virtual PCI device, and loads the corresponding driver. When the virtual PCI device uses an interrupt, the information that the interrupt is accommodated is set in an interrupt pin register.
Abstract:
A notebook type PC, for easier use by a user, including a liquid crystal monitor unit, a mainframe section, and an arm for connecting the liquid crystal monitor unit to the mainframe section, is provided. One end of the arm is connected to the liquid crystal monitor unit by a rotatable first hinge. The other end of the arm is connected to the mainframe section by a rotatable second hinge. The angle and distance of the liquid crystal monitor unit with respect to the mainframe section can be set freely by the first hinge and the second hinge.
Abstract:
An exchange coupling film has an antiferromagnetic layer, a pinned magnetic layer, and a seed layer provided on the side of the antiferromagnetic layer 4 opposite to the pinned magnetic layer. The seed layer has a crystalline structure constituted mainly by face-centered cubic crystals with (111) planes substantially aligned. The seed layer is preferably non-magnetic. A laminate structure including the antiferromagnetic layer and a free layer inclusive of the intervening layers have crystalline orientations with their (111) planes substantially aligned, so that large crystal grains and, hence, large ratio of resistance variation can be achieved.
Abstract:
A spin valve thin film magnetic element is provided composed of an antiferromagnetic layer; a pinned magnetic layer, formed in contact with the antiferromagnetic layer, in which the direction of magnetization is pinned by an exchange coupling magnetic field with the antiferromagnetic layer; a nonmagnetic conductive layer in contact with the pinned magnetic layer; and a free magnetic layer in contact with the nonmagnetic conductive layer, wherein the free magnetic layer is composed of a nonmagnetic intermediate layer, and the first and second free magnetic layers holding the nonmagnetic intermediate layer therebetween; the first free magnetic layer and the second free magnetic layer are antiferromagnetically coupled to enter the ferrimagnetic state; and a resistivity of the first free magnetic layer in the side farther from the nonmagnetic intermediate layer is higher than a resistivity of the second free magnetic layer in the nonmagnetic intermediate layer side. According to the spin valve thin film magnetic element, it is possible to increase the detection sensitivity for the external magnetic field, to reduce the shunt loss of the sensing current, and to increase the rate of change in magnetoresistance.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a composition for gene transfer which composition contains a quaternary ammonium salt represented by formula (1): wherein A represents (wherein each of R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5, which are identical to or different from one another, represents a C9-C17 aliphatic group); X1 represents a halogen atom; and n is an integer from 1 to 10 inclusive; and a method for introducing a gene into a cell by use of the composition. The composition enables effective delivery and expression of a gene which previously could not be effectively expressed in cells due to the low ratio at which the gene is delivered into cells. Therefore, the composition is advantageously used as a gene transfer reagent or a pharmaceutical.
Abstract:
A snap-fastener bag according to the present invention is composed of a quadrilateral bag body, a deaerating passage provided along a bottom-seal and a snap fastener provided along the opening. The deaerating passage is provided by configurating a deaerating passage opening as a non-adhesive part through one side-seal and along the bottom-seal and by configurating an adhesive part near the bottom of the side-seal to near the other side-seal positioned at a predetermined interval from the bottom-seal in parallel to adhere between the top and bottom films. A paint film coated with a sticky substance having the kinematic-viscosity of 4-5,000.times.10.sup.-6 m.sup.2 /s (100.degree. C.) such as polybutene is applied in the deaerating passage.
