Abstract: Disclosed are an electric vehicle capable of improving the charging efficiency of a charging apparatus by reducing the switching loss that may occur in the charging apparatus of an electric vehicle and a charging apparatus thereof. To this end, a power factor correction apparatus of an on board charger includes a first boost circuit receiving AC power through a first inductor to charge a load, a second boost circuit receiving the AC power through a second inductor to charge the load, and a third inductor provided between a leg of the first boost circuit and a leg of the second boost circuit so that parasitic capacitors of the first boost circuit and the second boost circuit are discharged.

Abstract: A charging apparatus for an electric vehicle is disclosed. The charging apparatus includes an AC power input stage receiving at least one AC input power from among single-phase AC power and multi-phase AC power, a power factor corrector having full bridge circuits receiving AC input power, a link capacitor charged through the power factor corrector, a switch network having a first switch connecting any one of an AC power input line and a neutral line of the AC power input stage to the power factor corrector and at least one second switch connecting the AC power input stage to the power factor corrector or the link capacitor, and a controller controlling the power factor corrector and the switch network according to AC input power condition. The second switch includes switches selectively connecting at least one full bridge circuit to a positive(+) electrode of a battery.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a charging apparatus. The charging apparatus includes an alternating current (AC) power input stage receiving at least one AC input power from among a single-phase AC power and a multi-phase AC power. A power factor corrector has a single three-leg half bridge circuit receiving the at least one AC input power through the AC power input stage. A link capacitor is charged through the power factor corrector. A converter connects between the link capacitor and a battery. A first switch connects any one of an AC power input line and a neutral line of the AC power input stage to the power factor corrector. A second switch selectively connects the AC power input stage to the power factor corrector, or the link capacitor. A controller operates the power factor corrector and the switch network based on a received condition of the at least one AC input power.

Abstract: A power conversion system for vehicles is provided. The system includes a switching circuit having first input/output terminals, second input/output terminals and a plurality of switching elements connected between the first input/output terminals and the second input/output terminals. A first energy storage device is connected to the second input/output terminals and has a preset charging/discharging voltage. A first voltage conversion circuit converts power output from the first input/output terminals to output a voltage less than the voltage of the first energy storage device. A second energy storage device is charged/discharged with the output voltage of the first voltage conversion circuit. A controller controls open/short-circuit states of the switching elements based on whether the first energy storage device is being charged and whether the vehicle is traveling. When the first energy storage device is being charged, AC charging power is provided to the first input/output terminals from outside of the vehicle.

Abstract: Disclosed are DC-to-AC converter control methods, ground assemblies and wireless power transfer methods using the same. A method for controlling a DC-to-AC converter of a ground assembly used for wireless power transfer, which includes first, second, third, and fourth switches arranged in a form of a bridge circuit between a power source and a primary coil, may comprise detecting a current flowing through the primary coil at a rising edge of an output voltage signal of the DC-to-AC converter; determining whether a strength of the current is at a negative level which falls within a predetermined reference range; and in response to a determination that the current is not at the negative level, changing switching frequencies of the DC-to-AC converter.

Abstract: A vehicle battery system and a method of controlling the same are provided. When voltage of the vehicle battery is different from an output voltage of a commercially available quick charger, two high-voltage batteries are connected in parallel during battery charging, and the two high-voltage batteries are connected in series during vehicle driving. Accordingly, a compatibility problem is resolved, thereby allowing an inverter, an electric motor, and a connector to have increased efficiency and to maximize a reduction in size, weight, and material cost thereof.
