摘要： An improved air valve assembly for mounting in a prosthesis, such as an artificial leg, and a spanner-type tool for mounting and removing the valve assembly. The valve assembly includes a housing to be mounted in the prosthesis with gaskets located on each side and secured therein by a removable retaining collar, a valve body removably mounted in the housing, and a spring-biased valve release stem mounted in the valve body, with seals positioned about the valve body and about the release stem. The spanner-type tool includes a spanner having protruding pins which are adapted to extend into holes in the valve housing and a threaded central opening into which is threaded a screw shaft which is adapted to extend through the valve housing, the screw shaft extending through a central opening in a tool body and handle and secured to a knob, and with a retainer ring mounted in a groove in the screw shaft and located intermediate the spanner and the tool body. The tool enables the valve housing to be held against the prosthesis, without rotation therein, while the retaining collar is being tightened so as to provide a firm installation of the valve housing and gaskets in the prosthesis.

摘要： A releasible tool is provided for removing a cylindrical member such as a valve seat, a pump liner, or a bushing from machines, pumps, oil well tubing, or other devices in which it is used. The releasable tool includes a mandrel, a platform slidably mounted to the mandrel, at least two jaws pivotally mounted to the platform, and an adaptor connected to the mandrel. The mandrel has a generally bell-shaped lower end and a shank portion. The platform is slidably mounted on the shank portion of the mandrel by placing the shank portion through a central bore of the platform. The jaw members are pivotally mounted to the platform, whereby they can be pivotally deflected outward to an expanded position by the bell-shaped lower end of the mandrel when the platform slides down the shank portion. The adaptor is releasably connected to the upper end of the shank portion of the mandrel. The adaptor and platform have corresponding tapered surfaces that can be engaged to form a releasable interference fit to grab and slide the platform upward relative to the shank portion of the mandrel, which moves the jaw members away from the bell-shaped lower end of the mandrel so that they can be pivotally deflected inward to a retracted position. Thus, the tool can be selectively inserted into or removed from a cylindrical member.

摘要： Apparatus and method of improving the performance of a pump for pumping fireproofing material and the like viscous materials is disclosed wherein the pump is the type which includes a compression chamber (44) having an inlet (48) and an outlet (50). A piston cylinder (19) is disposed in fluid communication with the compression chamber and, a piston assembly (A, D, G) is carried in the piston cylinder driven in reciprocating suction and compression strokes. The piston assembly includes an extended piston (B,E) carried on a push rod (18) having a piston face (42, 61) terminating adjacent an inlet ball limit pin (52), having a reduced pin length of 5/16 inch, at the end of the compression stroke. The piston is further provided in a form having downwardly angled contoured surface (38,60) extending from a cylindrical surface (40, 62) to the piston face wherein the contoured surface is formed in a manner that clearance exists between the piston and an inlet ball valve (48a) at the end of the compression stroke so that the full extent of the piston may be had into the compression chamber. The piston assembly further includes a piston cup (26) constructed from a polymeric material having a cylindrical base (26a) with an outer diameter less than an inner diameter of the piston cylinder (19). A cylindrical wall (26) extends from the cylindrical base having an outer diameter greater than the outer diameter of the cylindrical base for sealingly engaging the piston cylinder wall.

摘要： A scalpel blade remover comprises a housing, and a planar member mounted in the housing with a longitudinal slot therein. A slider is adapted to slide along the planar member, and has an opening for receiving a portion of a tang therein. The slider is movable along the planar member when pressed by the tang being inserted into the opening and moved along the slot, with the blade being located under the slider. Movement of the slider along the planar member causes the planar member to separate the rear end of the blade from the tang. A stop formation on the planar member engages the rear end of the blade after it has been separated from the tang and prevents the blade being withdrawn along the member. Upon withdrawal of the tang, the blade is stripped from the tang.
