摘要: Provided is an optical film and an optical laminate that achieve an image display device capable of an antireflection effect of external light and improvement of utilization efficiency of light emitted by a light emitting element when applied to a self-emission type image display device formed of an inorganic EL element, an organic EL element, or the like. The optical film includes a light absorption anisotropic film consisting of a cured substance of a liquid crystal composition that contains a polymerizable liquid crystal compound and a dichroic coloring agent compound, in which the light absorption anisotropic film has, in the same film surface, regions A and B where an inclination of an absorption axis with respect to a film surface is θA and θB, respectively, and θA and θB satisfy relationships of Expressions (1) |θA−θB|≥10° and (2) 0°≤θB≤5°.

摘要: A display device includes an electronic panel, a window, an optical sheet, and a stress control member. The electronic panel includes a first non-bending area having a first area overlapping the optical sheet and a second area overlapping at least part of the recessed area, a bending area configured to be bent relative to the first non-bending area, and a second non-bending area extending from the bending area and movable to a position opposing the first non-bending area. The optical sheet is disposed between the electronic panel and the window and having a recessed area defined therein extending toward a center of the optical sheet. The stress control member overlaps with at least a portion of the second area, at least a portion of the bending area, and at least a portion of the second non-bending area, respectively.

摘要: A head-mounted display may include a display system and an optical system that are supported by a housing. The optical system may be a catadioptric optical system having one or more lens elements. In one example, the optical system includes a single lens element and a retarder that is coated on a curved surface of the lens element. The retarder may be coated on an aspheric concave surface of the lens element. In another example the retarder may be coated on an aspheric convex surface of the lens element. One or more components of the optical system may be formed using a direct printing technique. This may allow for one or more adhesive layers and one or more hard coatings to be omitted from the optical system. A lens element may be directly printed on the display system to improve alignment between the optical system and the display system.

The first structure includes a third member on a surface in contact with the second adhesive layer, including, on a surface in contact with the second adhesive layer, a layer that is likely to be broken when deformed. Hardness of each of the first and second adhesive layer is determined such that when the multilayer structure is deformed, the extension of the layer likely to be broken is reduced to a value lower than the tensile breaking extension thereof.

摘要: A method for producing a phase difference film is provided. The phase difference film includes an orientation layer formed of a resin C having a negative intrinsic birefringence value. The resin C contains a block copolymer having a block (A) including as a main component a polymerization unit A having a negative intrinsic birefringence value and a block (B) including as a main component a polymerization unit B, and a weight fraction of the block (A) therein being 50% by weight or more and 90% by weight or less. The phase difference film has an NZ factor of greater than 0 and smaller than 1. The method comprising: forming a single layer film of the resin C; and causing phase separation of the resin C in the film, which includes a step of applying to the film a stress along a thickness direction thereof.

摘要: Embodiments herein describe a focal polarization displacer with a birefringent crystal disposed within the focal region of a lens. The birefringent crystal separates optical signals into at least two separate signals based on having different polarization states and an optical axis of the birefringent crystal is set so that focal points of the two separate signals are at an output surface of the polarization displacer where the two separate signals are output from the polarization displacer. This output surface can be a surface of the birefringent crystal or a surface of additional layer coupled to the crystal such as a polarization rotator or dielectric layer.

摘要: Polarization-based optical angle-filters disclosed herein can be engineered to transmit a prescribed amount of light as a function of incidence angle and azimuth. Such filters can transmit light without introducing artifacts, making them suitable for the image-path of an optical system. One example may include an angle-filter having an input circular polarizer, an analyzing circular polarizer, and a retarder positioned between the circular polarizers, the retarder having a thickness-direction retardation. The thickness-direction retardation of the retarder (Rth) is selected to produce a prescribed angle-of-incidence dependent transmission function, and the circular polarizers reduce the amount of azimuth-dependence in the transmission function.
