摘要: An acoustic pick-up, particularly an ultrasonic pick-up for acoustically diagnosing machines, for example, for detecting leakage in valves or for diagnosing positions, comprising a piezoelectric measuring element and an electronic circuit that processes the measurement signal into a form that is suited for transmission to an evaluation device. In order that the acoustic pick-up can function without an external auxiliary power supply, means are provided by means of which auxiliary power required for operating the electronic circuit can be generated from the acoustic signal to be picked up.

摘要: An apparatus for permanently or semi-permanently fitting to an underground water pipe 15,16 for detecting leaks therein, comprises a hydrophone 26 mounted to acoustically monitor water flowing along the pipe 15,16 and means 29 for analysing a parameter of the output signal of the hydrophone 26 and for generating an alarm signal, in the event that the parameter is above a maximum value or below a minimum value. The apparatus further comprises a radio transmitter for transmitting the alarm signal to a remote receiver, so as to indicate the detection of a leak. The maximum and minimum values are preferably calculated using historical data obtained from the hydrophone 26, so that the values are automatically adjusted to suit location of the apparatus. In use, a plurality of leak detection apparatus can be installed to pipes at various locations around a geographical area of supply. Once a leak has been identified in an area, it is then a relatively simple matter to more precisely determine where in the area should be surveyed using a conventional leak detector. Thus, the need to survey the whole of the area using a conventional leak detector is avoided.

The technique of sealing a vacuum tight cover to a surface is known as nullbaggingnull.

摘要: A leak detection device securable in detection proximity to a fluid vessel. The leak detection device includes a sensor element and a monitoring assembly. The sensor element has a monitorable characteristic, and the monitorable characteristic changes upon contact, immerson or in exposure to the fluid contained in the vessel. The monotoring assembly is responsive to the monitorable characteristic and produces an changing electrical output in response to change in the monitorable characteristic. The vessel and leak detection device may form an assembly including a shroud or cover over the detection device and a leak-susceptible portion of the vessel, to provide a microenvironment in which the detection device is operated.

摘要: An ultrasonic detector of the present invention includes an ultrasonic transducer for detecting ultrasonic energy and generating an electrical signal having an amplitude corresponding to the detected level of the received ultrasonic energy, and a light source supported in proximity to the ultrasonic transducer for illuminating an area from which the ultrasonic transducer may detect ultrasonic energy. Preferably, the light source is a directional light source positioned such that an optical axis of a light beam emitted from the light source intersects a directional axis of the ultrasonic transducer at a predetermined distance from the ultrasonic transducer. The ultrasonic detector of the present invention also preferably includes an indicator light coupled to the ultrasonic transducer for receiving the electrical signal output from the transducer and for indicating the relative amplitude of ultrasonic energy received by the transducer.

摘要: An apparatus for detecting a leak in the storage tank which includes a transducer for detecting and converting a mechanical wave into an electrical signal, a support tube having an upper end extending outside of the tank and a lower end extending inside the tank into the fluid medium. The transducer is affixed to the lower end of the support tube. A signal processing unit for processing the electrical signal, and electrical cable for transmitting the electrical signal from the transducer to the signal processing unit is also present. 摘要: A method of analyzing internal pressure of a closed container includes inducing vibration in a surface of a closed container; detecting sound resulting from the vibration; deriving information representing the detected sound; and determining whether the information corresponds to a predetermined spectral frequency condition and a predetermined spectral amplitude condition. The surface is at least partially conductive and inducing includes imposing a magnetic field on the surface. The predetermined spectral frequency condition and the predetermined spectral amplitude condition correspond to ranges of acceptable values. The detected sound is used to determine whether the closed container contains a pressure level within a predetermined range of pressure levels.

摘要: An ultrasonic probe utilized in an ultrasonic ranging system for determining fluid volume and/or fluid leakage in an underground storage tank, as well as monitoring fluid inventory, is provided which is characterized by (i) having its calibration reflectors positioned whereby each of the secondary echo packets formed by the calibration reflectors of the ultrasonic probe becomes imbedded into the trailing edge of a primary echo packet of another calibration reflector or to cause its secondary echo packet to be detected by the transducer after the transducer has detected a primary echo packet associated with the fluid surface, (ii) each of the calibration reflectors being positioned perpendicular to and offset from the longitudinal axis of the probe body, (iii) an ultrasonic sound wave dampening member fixedly positioned in the probe body between the transducer assembly and the tank bottom, the wave dampening member having a surface facing toward the transducer assembly wherein the surface is configured to dampen sound waves striking the surface before the sound waves are reflected from the surface, or (iv) the transducer assembly comprising a transducer body in which is housed a piezoelectric crystal oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the prove body, wherein the transducer body is structured to dampen selected ultrasonic sound waves which emanate from the crystal.
