    摘要: A novel ternary intercalation compound of a graphite with a metal fluoride and fluorine, which is represented by the formula C.sub.x F(MF.sub.z).sub.y wherein M is a metal is produced by reacting a graphite material with a metal fluoride in an atmosphere of fluorine gas at a temperature of 0.degree. C. to 400.degree. C. for at least a period of time to effect a weight increase in the graphite. The ternary graphite intercalation compound thus obtained has not only an excellent stability to humidity or moisture but also a high electrical conductivity. The novel ternary graphite intercalation compound according to the present invention may be practically used as a novel electrically conductive material and a catalyst of organic reactions.

    摘要: Highly active, acidic sulfactive metal hydrogenation catalysts comprising Mo and/or W plus Ni and/or Co are prepared by methods comprising as the essential novel feature impregnating gamma alumina particles with an aqueous solution having dissolved therein one or more fluosilicates of cobalt and/or nickel, followed by drying and calcining. The resulting compositions contain uniformly distributed fluorine and SiO.sub.2 as active acidic promoters, intimately associated with the sulfactive metal components.

    摘要: Hexafluoropropene is reacted with liquid sulfur trioxide in the presence of boric oxide, boron trichloride, boron trifluoride, tri(lower alkyl) borate, boron trioxychloride or boron trioxyfluoride at from 0.degree. C. to 150.degree. C. to form perfluoroallyl fluorosulfate and the sultone thereof. The perfluoroallyl fluorosulfate can be homopolymerized or copolymerized with various fluoroethylenes to form resins useful as ion exchange resins or catalysts. The fluorosulfate groups on the resins can be hydrolyzed to form carboxylic acid groups or various corresponding salts. The sultone of perfluoroallyl fluorosulfate can be rearranged to form .beta.-fluorocarbonyl-.beta.-fluorosulfonyl-trifluorethyl fluorosulfate.

    摘要: Partially deactivated hydrocarbon conversion catalysts comprising (a) one or more Lewis acids of the formula MX.sub.n where M is a metal selected from Group III-A, IV-B, V or VI-B elements of the Periodic Table, X is a halogen, n is the ratio of halogen atoms to atoms of M and varies from 1-8, and (b) a strong Bronsted acid are contacted with a hydrocarbon feedstock to recover the active or potentially active catalyst species from the partially deactivated catalyst stream prior to regeneration. In addition, potential organic and inorganic catalyst poisons present in said feedstock are removed therefrom during said contacting prior to introducing said feedstock into a hydrocarbon conversion process.
