Abstract:
Use of one or more vitamin D3 compounds chosen from the group 1-α-hydroxy vitamin D3, 25-hydroxy vitamin D3, 1-α-,25-dihydroxy vitamin D3, in combination with one or more magnesium salts to prevent milk fever in animals.
Abstract:
A nutritional supplement derived from skeletal tissue found in bony and cartilaginous fish has been found to be useful in the treatment of mineral deficiencies, in particular calcium deficiency, and additionally, in the treatment of arthritis, kidney stones, and gout in animals, including humans. A nutritional supplement composition and a pharmaceutical composition containing the nutritional supplement are also provided. The nutritional supplement contains 300,000 to 400,000 mg/kg calcium, 100 to 150 mg/kg phosphorous, 10 to 20 mg/kg magnesium, and 1,500 to 2,000 mg/kg sodium.
Abstract:
This invention provides a control release formulation or rumen-bypass dietary supplement in compacted form. The formulation or supplement has the capability to transport fatty acid calcium salt and between about 1-75 percent of one or more rumen-protected undegraded biologically active agents to the post-ruminal digestive system of a ruminant. A feedstock containing the formulation or supplement for ruminants beneficially improves feed efficiency and body growth. The feedstock also is adapted to improve the lactational performance of dairy cattle.
Abstract:
Acid compositions for ruminants containing a plurality of acid-neutralizing salts with pKa's effective at different ruminant gastrointestinal pH ranges and an active probiotic culture capable of stimulating the growth and concentration of beneficial acid-consuming rumen microorganisms. Methods for preventing clinical and sub-clinical acidosis in ruminants with the acid-neutralizing salts and feed compositions to which the acid-neutralizing salts have been added are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A novel processing method of producing a solid fat products from air flotation sludge fat, vegetable soap stock and an oily liquid oil ingredient with more than 15% free fatty acid level on a fat basis is provided. The liquid fat or oil ingredient is heated to above 85 degree C., mixed with an alkali, dried to less than 18% moisture, and cooled to below 45 degree C. to convert the oily liquid fat or oil ingredient into the solid fat product in dry form. The product has the bypass fat function. The product is free-flowing and easy to be handled, delivered and applied.
Abstract:
There is provided a commercially packaged mammal pet food product that includes a manufactured, shelf-life stable food substrate and a combination of functional additives. The functional additives include at least one non-palatable plant-based remedy and/or dietary fiber source that are present to strengthen and/or maintain a specified health indicator of a mammal pet animal. The food product is portioned and packaged with the functional additives being present in predetermined concentrations and amounts sufficient to be effective in achieving said indications on regular feeding of the pet animal with said food product. The food substrate is present in a proportion sufficient to mask the flavor and/or odor of the non-palatable additive and is made-up of a unique combination of materials that are able to be processed at lower temperatures to preserve the natural botanical functional additive's activity.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for producing a powder containing an oil-soluble substance, fromn which substantially no oil-soluble substances are eluted upon application of pressure, heat, or water. The present invention relates to a method for producing a powder containing an oil-soluble substance, which comprises, dispersing an oil-soluble substance and a calcium component in an aqueous solution in the presence of a surfactant, and then drying the thus obtained liquid mixture.
Abstract:
This invention aims to develop a chitin oligomer composition and/or a chitosan oligomer composition wherein the content of an oligomer from a trimer to a decamer is 60% or more, and to develop a process for preparing the above-mentioned oligomer composition. The object of the invention can be achieved by mixing hydrofluoric acid or hydrohalogenated acid other than hydrofluoric acid and hydrofluoric acid with a chitin-based material and/or a chitosan-based material.
Abstract:
Methods for achieving weight loss goals and maintaining weight loss including selecting an appropriate weight loss program and identifying a weight loss goal, followed by participating in the weight loss program until the weight loss goal is achieved; then ending the weight loss program participation; and consuming an ingestible composition at regular intervals beginning from 1 day to about 7 days after ending the weight loss program, the ingestible composition comprising an effective amount of a multivalent cation and an effective amount of an soluble anionic fiber.
Abstract:
The present invention is based on the discovery that moist heat treated ruminant animal feed compositions comprising a fermentation biomass, have increased amounts of proteinaceous matter that escapes fermentation within the rumen. The ruminant animal feed compositions may further comprise, alone or in combination, one or more of an isolated enzyme, an organic acid, a gluten protein, at least one divalent metal ion and at least one plant extract. The proteinaceous matter may then be digested or metabolized in the post-rumen portions of the ruminant digestive system, thereby providing further increased energy and protein levels for ruminant animals during times of increased productivity. Compositions and methods of manufacture of the compositions of the embodiments of the present disclosure are disclosed.
