Abstract: The disclosure proposes a decoder for decoding coefficients of blocks of a video sequence from a bitstream. The decoder comprises a decoding module configured to decode one or more coefficient vectors of each block from the bitstream, a check module configured to reconstruct, for at least one block, hidden information from one or more coefficients of that block, the hidden information constituting or forming part of scan order information associated with that block, a scan order selector configured to select a scan order for each block from a set of scan orders, preferably from a set of pre-defined and generated scan orders, on the basis of the scan order information associated with that block, and a deserializer configured to inverse scan, for each block, the one or more coefficient vectors of that block according to the scan order selected for that block so as to obtain a coefficient matrix.

Further, the device is configured to determine, for a prediction sample of the prediction block, a reference sample from a set of reference samples based on the selected directional intra-prediction mode, and apply the selected filter to the determined reference sample.

Abstract: Provided are a method, an apparatus, a computer program product and a non-transitory computer-readable medium for video coding. The method comprises performing an intra-prediction process of a block comprising samples to be predicted, wherein an interpolation filter is applied to reference samples of the block during the intra-prediction process of the block. The interpolation filter is selected on the basis of a subpixel offset between the reference samples and the samples to be predicted, and a size of a main reference side used in the intra-prediction process is determined according to a length of the interpolation filter and an intra-prediction mode that provides, out of a set of available intra-prediction modes, the greatest non-integer value of said subpixel offset, wherein the main reference side comprises the reference samples.

Abstract: Methods and devices for intra-prediction of a current block in video encoding or decoding are provided. A method includes: performing intra-prediction processing of the current block according to a directional intra-prediction mode, including applying reference sample filtering or subpixel interpolation filtering to reference samples in one or more reference blocks, wherein the directional intra-prediction mode is classified into one of the following groups: (A) vertical or horizontal modes, (B) directional modes including diagonal modes that represent angles which are multiples of 45 degrees, (C) remaining directional modes; if the directional intra-prediction mode is classified as belonging to group B, a reference sample filter is applied to the reference samples; if the directional intra-prediction mode is classified as belonging to group C, an intra reference sample interpolation filter is applied to the reference samples.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for intra predicting a block are described. The method of intra predicting a current block can include obtaining a predicted sample value from one or more reference sample values by using an intra prediction mode, obtaining at least one additional reference sample value in accordance with the intra prediction mode, and obtaining a thresholded additional reference sample value based on the additional reference sample value. The method can also include calculating an additional value from the thresholded additional reference sample value, multiplying the predicted sample value by a sample weighting factor, resulting in a weighted predicted sample value, adding the additional value to the weighted predicted sample value, resulting in a non-normalized predicted sample value, and normalizing the non-normalized predicted sample value, resulting in a normalized predicted sample values. The accuracy for the intra prediction is thus increased.

Abstract: A method of coding is described. The method can include obtaining a bitstream for a current picture, obtaining a value of a first indicator for the current picture according to the bitstream indicating a slice type, and obtaining a value of a second indicator for the current picture according to the bitstream indicating whether a weighted prediction parameter is present in a picture header or slice header of the bitstream. The method can also include parsing a value of the weighted prediction parameter for a current block of a current slice of the current picture from the bitstream. Furthermore, the method can include predicting the current block according to the value of the weighted prediction parameter.
