An apparatus having a line of sight detection device, comprises a viewfinder for observing a target object, a line of sight detection means for detecting a position of line of sight in the viewfinder of a user, focus detection means being possible to select a first operation mode for performing a first focus detecting operation or a second operation mode for performing a second focus detecting operation, and being possible to perform a focus detection to each of a plurality of focus detecting areas arranged in the viewfinder, range setting means for setting a plurality of determination range including the focus detecting areas, and for changing a size of the determination range to be set in accordance with the selection of the operation mode of the focus detecting means, selecting means for determining which determination range includes the position of line of sight detected by the line of sight detecting means, and for selecting at least one focus detecting area among the plurality of focus detecting areas, and focus adjusting means for adjusting a focus of an optical system based on a focus detecting result of the selected focus detecting area.

The apparatus also includes a transfer speed changing device for changing a transfer speed during a period of an accumulation operation of the photoelectric conversion device, making it possible to measure the luminance of an eye exactly in a short period of time.
Abstract:
The present invention is a bath which circulates and recycles a multiple mineral solution. The solution is released from the bathtub, filtered at the hair collector and the filtration device, sterilized at the electrolytic sterilizer, and returned to the tub. Non-metallic pipe is used along the circulation route. The electrolytic sterilizer employs several electrode panels which are placed perpendicular to the direction of flow of the solution. The filtration device features a rubber lining in the portions which come into contact with the solution, and has inside of it a dish onto which is lain filter sand. With the use of this invention, it becomes possible to repeatedly use and reuse a highly viscous solution containing multiple minerals as the recycling fluid, jams become infrequent, the filtration and reverse cleansing procedures become less time consuming, and the solution can be effectively sterilized.

A memory device includes a redundant data-storage section as a spare for a normal data-storage section so that redundant data-holding circuitry repairs a defective area in normal data-holding circuitry. Data to be written is temporarily stored into a data holding section, and the data thus stored is written into the normal data-storage section and then it is read out immediately after the write operation. If the readout data is different from the initially written data, the destination of the write operation is switched to the redundant data-storage section so that the data held in the data holding section is written into the redundant data-storage section. If there is no discrepancy between these data, the destination of the write operation is then switched to the normal data-storage section so that the data held in the data holding section is written into the normal data-storage section.

A method for producing multi-layer printed board. The method includes heating a hole board as a top layer, an adhesive sheet, and a bottom layer board. The adhesive sheet includes a mold release sheet and a thermoplastic resin sheet which begins to soften at a temperature lower than the melting temperature of the adhesive. A contraction control member controls contraction when the thermoplastic resin sheet cools.

A data processor which accesses a memory system only by a block transfer mode for transferring multiple data from the memory system when a cache misses a CPU read-access request for a single data. The data of the address designated by the CPU is read simultaneously into the CPU and cache in parallel from the memory system. After the CPU completes this read-access, the cache is then adapted to continue to read the rest of the multiple data transferred in the block transfer mode. During this time, the CPU does not newly assert an address signal, a bus control signal, and the like but continues to execute its internal processing, such as pipeline processing.

A preparation process of high purity bisphenol A from phenol and acetone with a continuous or batch type reactor by on-line estimating with a computer the composition of the reaction mixture and saturated dissolving temperature of bisphenol A under the reaction conditions and by automatically controlling the reaction conditions and liquid transfer conditions of the reaction mixture to the next step. The process does not form crystals of bisphenol A-phenol adduct in the reactor and cooler. A maximum rate of reaction can be obtained. Consequently, fluctuation of reaction temperature can be prevented and the amount of impurities formed is small. The discharge operation of the reaction mixture from the reactor can be carried out steadily and with ease, and does not disturb the operation of successive steps.

A process for preparing high-purity bisphenol A by estimating on line slurry concentration of a bisphenol A-phenol adduct in a crystallizer on the basis of a material balance and a heat balance around the crystallizer and thereby maintaining said slurry concentration at a prescribed level to precipitate the crystals of said adduct. The slurry having a constant concentration can be always fed to a slurry separating step, thereby enabling steady operation of the slurry separating step. Thus, the process is useful for enhancing productivity. As a result, extraordinary adhesion of the impurity-containing filtrate to the crystals of the bisphenol A-phenol adduct can be inhibited in the slurry separating step, and hence high-purity bisphenol A can be obtained.

An improved method of operating a two cycle direct injected internal combustion engine so as to provide good ignition and combustion even when operating in a stratified condition. This is achieved either by extending the duration of firing of the spark plug either by extending a single firing or providing multiple firings per cycle or by changing the energy level across the gap of the spark plug during its firing.
