Abstract: Methods and apparatus organize a plurality of haptic output variations into a cohesive semantic framework that uses various information about the alert condition and trigger, application context, and other conditions to provide a system of haptic outputs that share characteristics between related events. In some embodiments, an event class or application class provides the basis for a corresponding haptic output. In some embodiments, whether an alert-salience setting is on provides the basis for adding an increased salience haptic output to the standard haptic output for the alert. In some embodiments, consistent haptics provide for branding of the associated application class, application, and/or context.

Abstract: While outputting audio content, a wearable audio output device detects a gesture performed by a hand of a user of the wearable audio output device. In response to detecting the gesture, the wearable audio output device performs a first operation corresponding to the gesture in accordance with a determination that the gesture is detected within a respective distance of a side of the user's head and is a first type of hand gesture determined based at least in part on a shape of the hand during performance of the gesture. In response to detecting the gesture, the wearable audio output device forgoes performing the first operation in accordance with a determination that the gesture is not the first type of hand gesture determined based at least in part on a shape of the hand during performance of the gesture.

Abstract: A wearable audio output device includes a first portion configured to be inserted in a user's ear and a second portion that extends from the first portion and includes one or more input devices. The wearable audio output device detects an input via the one or more input devices. In response to detecting the input, and in accordance with a determination that the input is a swipe gesture along the second portion of the wearable audio output device, the wearable audio output device adjusts an output volume for the wearable audio output device based on movement of the swipe gesture along the second portion of the wearable audio output device.

Abstract: A wearable audio output device is in a respective physical environment and in communication with an electronic device. While one or more audio properties of the respective physical environment satisfy first audio criteria, the wearable audio output device provides audio output corresponding to the first audio criteria, the audio output including: audio corresponding to audio content from the electronic device at a first device-content audio level; and audio corresponding to ambient sound from the respective physical environment at a first ambient-sound audio level. Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a system and method for providing an output for an electronic device.
