摘要: Embodiments of the present invention describe a method for continuous manufacture of a gel material comprising the steps of: forming a gel sheet by dispensing a gel precursor mixture onto a moving element at a rate effective to allow gelation to occur to the gel precursor mixture on the moving element; and cooling the formed gel thereby reducing the rate of solvent evaporation therefrom.

摘要: The present invention provides methods and systems to effectively insulate hot or cold surfaces in industrial, domestic and building systems. It provides composite thermal insulation systems, which comprises an at least two-layer thermal insulation cladding, with at least two layers each containing from 25 to 95% by weight of aerogel and from 5 to 75% by weight of inorganic fibres, wherein the layers of the thermal insulation cladding are joined to one another by means of an inorganic binder.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention describe secured fiber-reinforced aerogels and laminate structures formed therefrom. In one embodiment a laminate comprises at least one fiber-reinforced aerogel layer adjacent to at least one layer of fiber-containing material wherein fibers from said at least one fiber-reinforced aerogel layer are interlaced with fibers of said at least one fiber-containing material. In another embodiment a laminate comprises at least two adjacent fiber-reinforced aerogel layers wherein fibers from at least one fiber-reinforced aerogel layer are interlaced with fibers of an adjacent fiber-reinforced aerogel layer.

摘要: An article includes a piece of encapsulated insulation including an envelope having at least two vents therethrough, a particulate insulation within the envelope, and a porous filter overlying each vent of the envelope. The porous filter has a mesh size no larger that the minimum size of the particles. The article may further include a structure having a structure surface, and the piece of encapsulated insulation overlies and covers at least a portion of the structure surface.
