Abstract: In wireless communication systems that support 5th generation wireless systems (5G) or New Radio (NR) protocols, subframes used for communication may have different numerology options. Numerology options may refer to the characteristics of the subframe such as a tone spacing within each symbol of the subframe, a symbol duration for each symbol of the subframe, a number of symbols in the subframe, etc. A subframe may include a control channel (e.g., the Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH)) and a data channel (e.g., the Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH)). In an aspect, the control channel and the data channel within the subframe may have different numerologies. As such, a need exists to signal the numerology of the subframe to users and to determine whether and how to multiplex the control channel and the data channel into the subframe.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. An exemplary method includes receiving, at a first device, a pre-scheduling message for a downlink transmission from a second device; transmitting a scheduling message to the second device in response to receiving the pre-scheduling message; and receiving the downlink transmission in accordance with the at least one downlink transmission parameter of the scheduling message. The scheduling message may include at least one downlink transmission parameter. Another exemplary method includes transmitting, to a first device, a pre-scheduling message for a downlink transmission; receiving, from the first device, a scheduling message comprising at least one downlink transmission parameter; and transmitting the downlink transmission to the first device in accordance with the at least one downlink transmission parameter of the scheduling message.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may transmit a phase noise correction reference signal (PC-RS) and a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) during a symbol period of a subframe. A user equipment (UE) may identify a first channel information using the PC-RS and the CSI-RS. The UE may transmit a channel information message to the base station that includes the first channel information. The first channel information may include a phase noise corrected channel measurement. The UE may the CSI-RS during the symbol period. Channel and phase noise estimates may be generated using a joint estimation based on the CSI-RS. The CSI-RS may be repeated periodically. In some cases, the UE may additionally or alternatively receive pilot tones that may include PC-RSs. The joint estimation may be further based on the pilot tones.

Abstract: Various aspects described herein relate to hybrid automatic repeat/request (HARQ) communications in a wireless network. A first instance of a HARQ communication is transmitted or received over a first set of one or more links. Based on the transmitting or receiving the first instance of the HARQ communication, a scheduling grant can be received for a second instance of the HARQ communication over a second set of one or more links different from the first set of one or more links. The second instance of the HARQ communication can accordingly be transmitted or received over the second set of one or more links based at least in part on the scheduling grant.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A discontinuous reception (DRX) periodicity may be configured to enable monitoring of a reference signal (RS) for RLM procedures. For example, a transmitting device may configure a DRX periodicity for an RS, where the configured DRX periodicity may include a periodicity of discrete transmissions of the RS or a periodicity of a transmission window in which the RS is located. Accordingly, a receiving device may identify the DRX periodicity and monitor radio link quality using the RS based on the DRX periodicity. In some examples, the RS may be transmitted independent of control channel transmissions, and the transmitting device may configure one or more control resource sets for the RS.

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer program product, and an apparatus are provided. The method may be performed by a subordinate entity. The subordinate entity receives a transmission from the scheduling entity in a data portion of the subframe. The subordinate entity processes, in the subframe, at least a part of the transmission. The subordinate entity then determines whether to send an acknowledgment (ACK) signal for the transmission, the ACK signal to be transmitted in an ACK portion of the subframe before a remaining part of the transmission is processed, and sends the ACK signal to the scheduling entity in the ACK portion of the subframe based on the determination. The data portion and the ACK portion are contained in the subframe.

In one method, a method of wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a synchronization signal. The synchronization signal may be common to a plurality of cells within a network. The method further includes acquiring a timing of the network based on the synchronization signal, and transmitting a pilot signal in response to acquiring the timing of the network. The pilot signal may identify the UE and be concurrently receivable by the plurality of cells within the network. Other aspects, features, and embodiments are also claimed and described.

Abstract: A system and method for low latency acknowledgements includes a communication unit that includes a processor, a transmitter coupled to the processor, and a receiver coupled to the processor. The communication unit is configured to transmit a message to another communication unit, receive a first group of one or more repetitions of an acknowledgement signal from the another communication unit, and decode the acknowledgement signal prior to fully receiving a last repetition of a second group of one or more repetitions of the acknowledgement signal. The acknowledgement signal has a partially decodable structure. In some embodiments, each of the are repetitions of a same time domain waveform received during one symbol period. In some embodiments, a frequency domain characteristic of the time domain waveform consists of one non-zero tone for every K tones, K being equal to a sum of a number of repetition in the first and second groups.

Abstract: The disclosure relates in some aspects to techniques for improved channel estimation. For example, a device can specify a pilot structure where pilot density differs over time. As another example, a device can indicate that a pilot from a prior transmission time interval (TTI) can be used for channel estimation. As another example, a device can employ frequency domain physical resource block (PRB) bundling with the bundling information signaling. As yet another example, a device can use an adjustable traffic-to-pilot ratio (TPR) for throughput optimization. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also discussed and claimed.
