    摘要: To reduce the size, simplify the structure of a light emitting and receiving system. The system that detects a target object with the use of reflected lights gained from a light irradiated to the target object includes a flat-plate shaped light control apparatus having light control parts, a light-entry apparatus allowing light to enter into a light control part, a light-receiving apparatus that receives emitting lights from the remaining light control parts, a control apparatus that controls the light-entry apparatus and the light-receiving apparatus and detects the target object. The light control apparatus includes liquid crystal elements supporting light control parts between a pair of substrates and a drive unit to drive the liquid crystal elements. Each of the light control parts includes a pair of electrodes, a high-resistance film disposed between the electrodes, and a liquid crystal layer disposed at least to the region overlapping the high-resistance film.

    摘要: A light source emits first incident light to a first polarization-reversed structure. The first polarization-reversed structure then converts the wavelength of the first incident light to emit a higher harmonic wave. A fiber coupler divides the higher harmonic wave output from the first polarization-reversed structure into output light emitted from the light source device and feedback light. The feedback light enters a second polarization-reversed structure. The second polarization-reversed structure then converts the wavelength of the feedback light to emit second incident light. The second incident light has the same wavelength as the first incident light. The second incident light enters a first wavelength converter.

    摘要: A backlight module includes a light source unit, an optical fiber, a diverging lens and a light guide unit. The light source unit includes a first light source emitting red light, a second light source emitting green light and a third light source emitting blue light. The optical fiber includes a first, second, and third incident branches and a light output portion. The three incident branches converge into the light output portion and are aligned with the three light sources to guide and mix red, blue, and green light to form white light. The diverging lens is aligned with the light output portion to receive and diverge the white light. The light guide unit faces the diverging lens to receive the white light.

    摘要: Techniques for producing an arbitrary broadband waveform include storing a first waveform in a circulating coherent storage device. A next waveform is generated. A shifted replica is generated by shifting, by a frequency shift one of the next waveform or the waveform in the storage device. A combined waveform is stored by coherently combining the shifted replica and one of the next waveform or the waveform in the storage device which waveform is not frequency shifted. An apparatus includes a source of a carrier frequency waveform, and a modulator configured to impose the next waveform on the carrier frequency waveform. The apparatus also includes a circulating coherent storage device configured to store a coherent interaction between multiple waveforms. The apparatus also includes a frequency shifter configured to generate a shifted replica by shifting, by a frequency shift, one of the next waveform or a waveform in the storage device.
