Abstract:
An environmental control unit, and air handling systems using it, that combines, as a unitary packaged unit, equipment and associated functionality for air handling and affording protection to occupants and/or equipment in an enclosure against airborne release of chemical, biological, or radiological (CBR) agents.
Abstract:
A room in a building serving as a safe haven for human inhabitants against harmful agent attack such as chemical or biological weapon attack. The room provides an environment sealed from air-carried harmful agents wherein the sealing can be accomplished by blocking air ducts and air leakage around doors. The room can be specially built, retrofitted, or rapidly adapted to serve as a safe haven. The room can include an oxygen source such as an oxygen generator. One oxygen generator utilizes a chemical process to generate gaseous oxygen. The room preferably includes a carbon dioxide scrubber. The invention includes kits and methods for rapidly converting a room to a safe haven.
Abstract:
Lock boxes may be used to protect a building controller from tampering. In some cases, a lock box may include a back plate that is configured to be mounted to a wall or a junction box and a front cover that may be secured to the back plate and locked in place. In some cases, the back plate may be configured to help secure a building controller thereto. In some cases, the back plate may be configured to secure a wall mountable connector to which the building controller may be secured. In some instances, the back plate may include mounting features that can engage corresponding mounting features of the wall mountable connector in order to secure the wall mountable connector to the back plate of the lock box.
Abstract:
A box which is expandable vertically and horizontally is disclosed. The box can be expanded both vertically and horizontally simultaneously, or in only one of these directions. This is accomplished by pulling/pushing opposite sides further/closer to each other. Rails which at least partially extend between respective opposite sides allow such an expansion/or contraction, the rails, in embodiments, having a pin of one section of the box held within a slot of an adjacent section of the box. The box, in embodiments, is made up of four separate pieces, each being one quadrant (top & left, top & right, bottom & left, bottom & right) of the box. Such a box can be expanded/collapsed to fit within a window and hold an air conditioner there-in.
Abstract:
A system that screens for particularly identified odors, such as those associated with explosive and other bomb-making materials, weapons and illegal drugs, includes an odor delivery unit with one or more fans that force air across the object being screened, such as a person. The airflow from the odor delivery unit passes over and across the object being screened creating an odor stream that passes through a partition that allows the odor stream to flow freely through it and simultaneously obscures a canine positioned on the other side of the partition from view by the person or object being screened.
Abstract:
The present utility model relates to an anti-theft device having an enclosed state and a folded state, and comprising at least three side surrounding frames capable of stretching out and drawing back along a width direction, the right edge of a side surrounding frame being rotatably connected to the left edge of a next side surrounding frame, and the left edge of the first side surrounding frame and the right edge of the last side surrounding frame being free edges, wherein when the anti-theft device is in the enclosed state, the left edge of the first side surrounding frame and the right edge of the last side surrounding frame are locked together and a closed area is formed by the side surrounding frames; when the anti-theft device is in the folded state, the at least three side surrounding frames stack on each other. By rotatably connecting these side surrounding frames, a then by stretching out and enclosing these side surrounding frames when in use, and by folding them and drawing them in when not in use, the present utility model is more convenient to use than the existing anti-theft devices, and has a very simple structure.
Abstract:
An enclosure for protecting an air conditioning condenser unit is provided. The enclosure includes a cover for enclosing an outdoor condenser unit, the cover including (1) a metal frame for folding around and over the outdoor condenser unit, the metal frame including a plurality of panels, interconnected to at least one other panel and each panel having a plurality of metal edges, each panel sized for a corresponding section of the outdoor condenser unit, and each panel also includes a metal mesh extending between the metal edges, and (2) a metal security bar for interconnecting opposite panels via extension of the security bar underneath the outdoor condenser unit, whereby when folded around the outdoor condenser unit, the cover substantially approximates the shape of the outdoor condenser unit and prevents access to the outdoor condenser unit.
Abstract:
A building protection system includes chemical sensor systems to detect chemicals in inlet and return air; radiological sensor systems to detect radioactive materials in the inlet and return air; and a control system (a) to signal a building control system to close dampers and to turn off a fan system when more than predetermined levels of a chemical or radioactive material is detected and (b) to issue reports.
Abstract:
An improved building protection system in a building having an inlet air duct for bringing an atmospheric air steam into the building, a damper in such air duct operable to regulate atmospheric air stream passing through the duct, a return air duct with a damper in such duct operable to regulate the return air stream mixed with the inlet air stream and a fan system means operable to suck an atmospheric air stream into the air duct and the return air stream into a return duct, an improved building protection system employing paired sensors for the same toxic agent in the ducts, logic means monitoring the outputs of the paired sensors operable to determine the parity of such outputs, logic means monitoring the outputs of the paired sensor operable to indicate the presence of such toxic agent and control means connected to the logic means operable to shut down the building's HVAC system only when the outputs have substantial parity and presence of such toxic agent is detected by said sensors. In practice a plurality of paired sensors are used, each paired sensors operable to detect a specific toxic agent.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses an easy to use and cost effective air conditioner anti-theft device which easily attaches to the external portion of an air conditioner and detects a condition of attempted theft and/or vandalism of the unit and then alerts someone to the condition either through audible or other means.
