    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that relate to a two-step random access procedure. Generally, the described techniques allow different configurations for a first message of a random access procedure depending on a connected-state of the user equipment (UE) performing the random access procedure. A base station may transmit configuration information to the UE and the UE may use the configuration information to determine resources, coding, block size, or other factors for transmitting the first message based on the radio resource control (RRC) connected state of the UE. The UE may then monitor for a random access response from the base station based on the first message from the UE.

    Abstract: Systems and methods related to UL communications in a wireless network are provided. A UE receives an indication of a plurality of TXOPs for a RACH procedure from a BS. In an embodiment, the UE starts a timer after either successfully transmitting a random access message to the BS or failing to succeed in any of the TXOPs. In another embodiment, the UE starts the timer at a pre-agreed time after one of the TXOPs, regardless of whether the random access message has been successfully transmitted yet or not. In another embodiment, the UE receives as part of a RACH response an indication of whether the RACH response is split into multiple parts. If the UE does not locate an identifier corresponding to the UE in the RACH response, the UE checks for the indication and, if present, listen for the next RACH response identified from the indication.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for paging early indication (PEI) configuration and monitoring procedures. In particular, the present disclosure provides techniques for configuring a user equipment (UE) for PEI monitoring. A method that may be performed by a network entity generally includes transmitting, to the UE, a configuration for paging early indication (PEI) occasions for the UE to monitor and transmitting, in at least one of the PEI occasions, a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) with a PEI that indicates, for multiple paging occasions (POs), whether paging messages are scheduled for the UE in the multiple POs.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for dynamically configuring connected discontinuous reception (C-DRX) configurations supporting network power modes are described. In some examples, a user equipment (UE) may receive a first control signaling configuring the UE with multiple C-DRX configurations, each C-DRX configuration of the multiple C-DRX configurations corresponding to a respective network power mode. In some examples, the UE may receive a second control signaling including an identifier indicating a C-DRX configuration, of the multiple C-DRX configurations, corresponding to a first network power mode (e.g., an enhanced network power savings mode) at a base station, where the first network power mode may indicated a set of features active at the base station. The UE may communicate with the base station in accordance with the indicated C-DRX configuration and based on the first network power mode.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for identifying a file having a set of packets that are configured to be processed together. The base station may determine a segmentation scheme for the file based on a size of the file and identify a batch of assignments for communicating the file via a batch of transmissions based on the segmentation scheme. The base station may communicate the file via the batch of transmissions with a user equipment (UE) during the batch of assignments. Additional techniques are described herein for a UE to identify that the UE is storing a file in a buffer at the UE. The UE may transmit an indication to the base station that the buffer includes the file. In some cases, the UE may indicate a size of the file.

    Abstract: A UE may select one or more paging attributes for paging reception. The one or more paging attributes may be selected from a set of network supported paging attributes. The UE may transmit, to a network, an indication of the one or more paging attributes for paging reception. The UE may receive, from the network, a response message based on the indication of the one or more paging attributes. The response message may include a first UE group number. The first UE group number may be based on at least the one or more paging attributes. The UE may receive a paging indication including a UE group number. The UE may proceed to receive and decode the paging message associated with the paging indication when the UE group number in the paging indication matches the first UE group number. Otherwise, the UE may safely disregard the paging message.

    Abstract: Aspects for MAC CE configurations for beam failure recovery operations are disclosed. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication comprising: determining, by a user equipment (UE), a beam failure recovery for a serving cell; transmitting, by the UE, a beam failure recovery request for the serving cell; and transmitting, by the UE, a MAC CE including new beam information and including serving cell identification information multiple serving cells, including the serving cell, wherein the serving cell identification information identifies the multiple serving cells. In another aspect, the MAC CE may include bandwidth part information. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.
