Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a medium access control (MAC) control element (MAC CE) including a command to alter a configuration of the UE; identify a time to alter the configuration of the UE based at least in part on at least one of a relative time indicator, an absolute time indicator, a triggering event, or a type of the MAC CE; and implement, at the time identified for altering the configuration of the UE, the command of the MAC CE to alter the configuration of the UE. The UE may rank, based at least in part on the core network type cell ranking offset parameter, a neighbor cell for reselection relative to the serving cell, wherein the neighbor cell is associated with a different core network type than the serving cell. Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may update multicast-broadcast key for securing a data session for a multicast or broadcast service. The UE may receive a multicast-broadcast key for the for a multicast or broadcast service carried by a radio bearer (RB) associated with the data session. The UE may receive packets for the multicast or broadcast service. The UE may decode the packets using the multicast-broadcast key, or a key derived from the multicast-broadcast key. The UE may decode the packets for the multicast or broadcast service received on the RB using the updated multicast-broadcast key, or a key derived from the updated multicast-broadcast key.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for capability indications by a reduced capability user equipment (UE) and UE-based performance measurement parameter reporting or self-organizing network (SON) parameter reporting based on the capability indications. A reduced capability UE may transmit a set of capabilities to a base station that indicate various types of parameter reporting that are supported at the UE. The base station may identify the UE as a reduced capability device, and set one or more reporting parameters based on the indicated UE capabilities. The base station may provide a reporting configuration to the UE with the one or more reporting parameters, and the UE may provide reporting of measured parameters (e.g., performance measurement parameter reporting or SON parameter reporting) based on the reporting configuration.

Abstract: An indication is used to control how message service information is routed over different domains. For example, an access terminal may be configured with an indication that indicates that a message service is preferred to be invoked over an IP domain or that the message service is not be invoked over the IP domain. The access terminal then delivers message service information based on the value of the indication. In some cases, a network entity generates the indication and sends the indication to the access terminal. In some cases, a domain for delivery of message service information is selected based on a domain that was selected for particular type of traffic.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for a service-based cell reselection by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system. The UE may have a service relationship with a particular service. A wireless communication system may provide different types of services via different radio frequencies. The UE may determine which cells to measure for cell reselection to include those that correspond to a service of interest to the UE. In addition to power savings, the UE may experience faster cell reselection for a service. The techniques of this disclosure also may enable a priority-based cell reselection so that the UE can camp on a cell that supports a higher priority service compared to other services supported by the UE.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for handling slice information for a roaming user equipment (UE). In some cases, the UE may send, to a network entity, a request with an information element (IE) indicating one or more protocol data unit (PDU) sessions to be transferred from a source network to a target network. After receiving, from the network entity, a response with an IE identifying one or more of the PDU sessions allowed to be transferred to the target network and indicating slice information applicable in the target network for the one or more PDU sessions allowed to be transferred, the UE may update slice information for each of the PDU sessions allowed to be transferred based on the IE in the response.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for truncated identification indicators. A user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling indicating a truncating configuration for an identification indicator. The truncating configuration may indicate a set of bits within an initial identification indicator to remove to generate a truncated identification indicator. The UE may remove the indicated set of bits and transmit the truncated identification indicator to a base station. The base station may receive the truncated identification indicator and reconstruct the initial identification indicator according to the truncating configuration. The base station may reconstruct the initial identification indicator by adding the set of bits (e.g., removed by the UE to generate the truncated identification indicator) to the truncated identification indicator.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for a user equipment (UE) to determine a time gap between receiving a paging early indication (PEI) and receiving a paging message based on a link quality of the UE. The UE may determine the time gap based on a number of reference signals the UE may measure after receiving the PEI to obtain channel information for accurately decoding a forthcoming paging message and a periodicity of the reference signals. The UE may transmit UE assistance information (UAI) to the base station during an active state to indicate the time gap. The UE may receive a configuration message from the base station indicating a configured time gap for the UE based on the UAI. The UE may receive the PEI and monitor a paging occasion for the paging message according to the configured time gap.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to mobility with consideration for network slicing are provided. In one embodiment, a user equipment (UE) transmits in a first cell frequency of a network, a request for a network slice of the network that is not provided by the first cell frequency. The UE receives, in response to the request, an information for communicating in a second cell frequency of the network that provides the requested network slice. In one embodiment, a core network entity receives, from a base station (BS) operating over a first cell frequency of a network, a request to provide a network slice of the network to a UE, the network slice not provided by the first cell frequency. The core network entity transmits, to the BS, information associated with a second cell frequency of the network providing the network slice.
