    Abstract: Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to beam failure recovery mechanism. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, there are provided an improved solution for reporting candidate beams in serving cells. If a beam failure occurs in a serving cell, the first device determines a candidate beam for beam failure recovery from a plurality of beams in the serving cell based on link qualities of the plurality of beams. The first device also determines a resource configuration for a random access for the beam failure recovery for the first device or a resource to be used for the random access, The first device further generates an indication for indicating a characteristic of the candidate beam or a characteristic of a beam for performing the random access, based on at least one of the determined resource configuration or the determined resource. The first device also transmits an identity of the candidate beam and the indication to a second device. The second device performs the beam failure recovery based on the candidate beam and the characteristic of the candidate beam.

    Abstract: In accordance with an example embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus comprising: at least one processor; and at least one memory including computer program code, wherein the at least one memory and the computer program code are configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to at least perform: for a new quality of service (QoS) flow in a buffer of a user equipment, determine using one or more conditional rules whether to send data from the new QoS flow using a default data radio bearer (DRB) or to trigger radio resource control (RRC) signaling to request a dedicated DRB for the new QoS flow; and perform, by the user equipment and based on an outcome of the determining, one of transmitting the data using the default DRB or triggering the RRC signaling to request the dedicated DRB for the new QoS flow.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to random access in a communication system. A first device receives a criterion to select a random access type for performing random access to a second device. The first device further determines whether the first device is allocated a contention-free random access resource for a certain random access type, and then performs the random access to the second device based on the determination and conditionally based on the criterion. As such, in the case where contention-free random access resource has been allocated for a certain random access type, the device can conditionally apply the criterion for selection of the random access type and can thus perform random access with improved efficiency.

One method may include transmitting, by a source network node, a handover request to a target network node. The handover request may include an indication of a recognition of prioritized random access for a user equipment.     Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to random access in a communication system. A first device determines whether a contention-free random access resource is allocated from a second device for a first random access type. In accordance with a determination that the contention-free random access resource is allocated, the first device compares a target transport block size corresponding to the contention-free random access resource with a first transport block size configured for a first group of preambles available for the first random access type, and performs random access to the second device based on a result of the comparison.
