Abstract: A sterile wound treatment kit includes a plastic container pouch with a sealed outer periphery which forms a sterile interior region which isolates the pouch interior from a surrounding environment. A drug absorbing medium is located within the pouch interior and initially isolated from the surrounding environment by the sealed periphery. A syringe accepting fitting is located on the pouch for discharging a treatment drug from a syringe into the pouch interior. The pouch interior is large enough to allow the drug absorbing medium to be shaken within the pouch interior once a drug is injected into the sterile interior region, whereby the drug absorbing medium will contact and evenly absorb the drug treatment. The pouch can be opened at the time of use to allow access to the drug absorbing medium so that the medium can be applied to a wound site.

Abstract: An external indicator device presents parameters associated with stimulation therapy generated by a pulse generator, which may be associated with an external or implantable stimulation device. In this manner, the external indicator device enables a user to visualize stimulation parameters without actually delivering stimulation therapy to a patient via implanted electrodes. The electrical stimulation parameters may include electrical amplitude levels, pulse widths, pulse rates, electrode combinations, and electrode polarities for stimulation generated by the pulse generator.

Abstract: A new digital image/video camera that directly acquires random projections of the incident light field without first collecting the pixels/voxels. In one preferred embodiment, the camera employs a digital micromirror array to perform optical calculations of linear projections of an image onto pseudorandom binary patterns. Its hallmarks include the ability to obtain an image with only a single detection element while measuring the image/video fewer times than the number of pixels or voxels—this can significantly reduce the computation required for image/video acquisition/encoding. Since the system features a single photon detector, it can also be adapted to image at wavelengths that are currently impossible with conventional CCD and CMOS imagers.

Abstract: A work item tracking system that provides for processing of more than one type of work item. Work item types may be defined using a data structure. Fields and characteristics of the work item are defined within the work item type definition. Programs within the work item tracking system may use this information to create, modify and otherwise process work items of a single type or to form links between work items of different types.

Abstract: Processes for the conversion of an aromatic substrate over a mordenite catalyst modified by the inclusion of nickel and a second Group 10 metal selected from palladium, platinum and mixtures thereof. A feedstock containing at least one aromatic compound is brought into contact with the catalyst under conditions effective for the conversion of the aromatic compound to at least one derivative product. The resulting reaction product is then removed from the modified mordenite catalyst. The conversion reaction includes a toluene disproportionation reaction in which the feedstock contains toluene and the product recovered from the catalyst contains benzene and xylene. The conversion reaction can also involve a transalkylation reaction in which a mixture of benzene and xylene is brought into contact with the nickel and palladium-modified mordenite to produce a product which contains a monoalkyl benzene. The conversion can also involve the methylation of benzene to produce toluene or the methylation of toluene to produce xylene. The modified mordenite catalyst may contain nickel in an amount greater than the amount of platinum or palladium in the catalyst.

Abstract: Ultrasonic scanning and diagnostics for cellular tissue are disclosed. An ultrasonic probe is moved across cellular tissue at a rate that is synchronized with the image capture rate of the ultrasonic scanner, to achieve a contiguous and complete set of scan images of the tissue. The probe can be held in a single position as it is moved across the tissue, or it can be dynamically adjusted during the scan to provide optimal contact with the scanned tissue. The image data are captured and converted to a format that is easily stored and compatible with a viewer. The viewer allows playback of the scanned images in a manner that is optimized for screening for cancers and other anomalies. A location function allows the user to select a point of interest on an individual scan image, and choose another known reference point, and the function calculates and provides the distance from the reference point to the point of interest in three dimensions. The system can be used for virtually any tissue, but can also be optimized for breast cancer screening. A pad of different density may be placed over the nipple to provide a reference point that is visible in the scan images. The breast may be covered with a fabric that is constructed in such a manner to hold the breast in place and reduce ultrasonic scanning errors, as well as holding the pad in place. The location function described above will use the nipple pad as a reference point from which to measure any detected cancers or other anomalies.

Abstract: A process for the regeneration of a deactivated zeolite beta catalyst such as rare earth promoted zeolite beta catalyst deactivated in the course of an aromatic alkylation reaction. A zeolite beta conversion catalyst deactivated with the deposition of coke is heated to a temperature in excess of 300° C. in an oxygen-free environment. An oxidative regeneration gas is supplied to the catalyst bed with oxidation of a portion of a relatively porous coke component to produce an exotherm moving through the catalyst bed. At least one of the temperature and oxygen content of the gas is progressively increased to oxidize a porous component of the coke. Regeneration gas is supplied having at least one of an increased oxygen content or increased temperature to oxidize a less porous refractory component of the coke. The regeneration process is completed by passing an inert gas through the catalyst bed at a reduced temperature.

Abstract: Apparatus for separating aerodynamic objects from an aerodynamic vehicle includes a first element, aerodynamically configured to create nose-down pitching moment, mounted to the object surface, a second element mounted to the first element and projecting into an oncoming airstream such that when enabled, the passing air tears the apparatus from the surface which otherwise supports it. The first element is a body designed to be conformal with the object surface to which it is mounted, and includes a forward end projecting into the oncoming airstream and a rearward end, and is secured to said object surface at the rearward end thereof. A flexible gasket is interposed between the first element and the object surface. The second element comprises a forward end directed toward the oncoming airstream and a rearward end, with the second element being mounted to the first element at the rearward end of the second element.
