    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatuses for encoding data for (still or video processing into a bitstream). In particular, the data are processed by a network which includes a plurality of cascaded layers. In the processing, feature maps are generated by the layers. The feature maps processed (output) by at least two different layers have different resolutions. In the processing, a layer is selected, out of the cascaded layers, which is different from the layer generating the feature map of the lowest resolution (e.g. latent space). The bitstream includes information related to the selected layer. With this approach, scalable processing which may operate on different resolutions is provided so that the bitstream may convey information relating to such different resolutions. Accordingly, the data may be efficiently coded within the bitstream, depending on the resolution which may vary depending on the content of the picture data coded.

    Abstract: This application provides a high dynamic range HDR video processing method, an encoding device, and a decoding device. The method includes: obtaining dynamic metadata of an Nth HDR video frame according to a dynamic metadata generation algorithm; calculating a tone-mapping (tone-mapping) curve parameter of the Nth HDR video frame based on the dynamic metadata of the Nth HDR video frame; generating a tone-mapping curve based on the curve parameter; determining, according to a quality assessment algorithm, distortion D′ caused by the tone-mapping curve; comparing D′ and DT, to determine a mode used by the Nth HDR video frame, where the mode is an automatic mode or a director mode, and DT is a threshold value; and determining metadata of the Nth HDR video frame based on the determined mode used by the Nth HDR video frame.

    Abstract: A method for deblocking a chroma block edge between a first chroma block of a first image block and a second chroma block of a second image block. The method includes a decision process which includes: determining a first chroma quantization parameter for the first chroma block based on a first luma quantization parameter of a first luma block of the first image block and a chroma QP mapping table for the first chroma block; determining a second chroma quantization parameter for the second chroma block based on a second luma quantization parameter of a second luma block of the second image block and a chroma QP mapping table for the second chroma block; determining an averaged and rounded chroma quantization parameter based on the first chroma quantization parameter and the second chroma quantization parameter; and determining a threshold parameter based on the averaged and rounded chroma quantization parameter.

    Abstract: Parallel processing of inter prediction of a current coding block and preceding coding blocks depending on the partition depth of the current coding block is disclosed. An apparatus comprises a processing circuitry configured for: obtaining a value of a parameter for the current coding block, wherein the value of the parameter indicates a partition depth of the current coding block, and performing an inter prediction process for the current coding block; wherein no Motion Vector Predictor candidate comprising a motion vector of a coded block of the picture that is not spatially adjacent to the current coding block for the current coding block is used in the inter prediction process or a merge mode inter prediction process comprised in the inter prediction process, when the value of the parameter for the current coding block is greater than a threshold.
