Abstract: A user equipment (UE) can operate to configure an application service to a network slice instance while preserving an application identity (ID) privacy. The UE receives network slice customer (NSC) Service ID from an NSC. A UE route selection policy (URSP) from a network slice provider (NSP), or network operator, includes the NSC Service ID in a traffic descriptor that associates a single network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAI) with the NSC Service ID. The UE associates the application service to the network slice instance based on the NSC Service ID and the S-NSSAI.

Abstract: A method for a re-authentication of user equipment (UE), by at least a portion of a core network (CN), for steering of roaming (SoR) data delivery, includes receiving, through next generation radio access network (NG-RAN) and/or 5G system (5GS), a subscriber data management (SDM) data request for a UE. The method includes determining that re-authentication of the UE be requested. The method includes encoding a response for transmission to the UE responsive to the SDM data request. Determining that re-authentication be requested can include determining that SoR data is being sent to the UE.

However, if either the UE or the eNB does not provide support for both the first and second CE modes, the one or more timers of the UE, eNB and CN are configured according to a legacy timer range.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) explicitly accounts for a coverage enhancement (CE or sometimes called enhanced coverage) feature in a public land mobile network (PLMN) search and/or selection. By explicitly using CE indicators in PLMN search and/or selection, a UE can determine whether to use a PLMN that may only be available in CE mode for voice services or data services, or fail to meet criteria, such as high data rate, that cannot be provided in CE mode. For example a UE can use the PLMN search and/or selection with (1) automatic PLMN selection at switch-on or recovery from lack of coverage, (2) higher priority PLMN selection, (3) manual PLMN selection, and/or (4) limited service capabilities while in CE mode.

Abstract: Systems, devices and methods for a user equipment (UE) to perform public land mobile network (PLMN) selection with a non-terrestrial network (NTN). A UE performs a non-access stratum (NAS) procedure with a public land mobile network (PLMN) of an NTN. The UE receives a NAS message from the PLMN, and the NAS message indicates that the UE is not allowed to access a core network of the NTN. The NAS message may indicate that the UE is not allowed to access the core network of the NTN because a location of the UE is unknown to the NTN, that access to the NTN is not allowed in a country in which the UE is located, or that a location of the UE is not within a country associated with the NTN. The UE modifies its PLMN search procedure responsive to receiving the NAS message.

Abstract: Some embodiments include an apparatus, method, and computer program product for public land mobile network (PLMN) selection for disaster roaming in a 5G wireless communications system. A user equipment (UE) can receive two or more messages that disaster roaming service is offered by two or more forbidden public land mobile networks (PLMNs) of a forbidden PLMN list of the UE. The UE can select a first forbidden PLMN of the two or more forbidden PLMNs, where the first forbidden PLMN corresponds to a highest priority PLMN of a preferred PLMN list of the UE, and establish communications, via the transceiver, with the first forbidden PLMN. Some embodiments include designating a forbidden PLMN as offering a disaster roaming PLMN for manual selection. Some embodiments include enabling a Closed Access Group (CAG)-capable UE to access disaster roaming services from a forbidden PLMN of a CAG-only cell or a 5G cell.

Abstract: Methods and devices for creating and operating a combined network and computational slice instance (NCSI) in a Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) scenario. Communication and computational resources may be reserved by a NCSI controller for the NCSI. The communication resources may include network slices and the computational resources may include MEC computational resources of one or more MEC servers. The reserved resources may be selected based on quality of service (QoS) requirements of UEs that will utilize the NCSI. During operation, reserved resources for the NCSI may be dynamically renegotiated based on an aggregate load of the NCSI, the QoS of data traffic, and/or updated QoS requirements of the UEs.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) or other device performs service discovery of edge computing resources in a cellular network system and dynamic offloading of UE application tasks to discovered edge computing resources. As part of the discovery process, the device (e.g., the UE) may request edge server site capability information. When performing dynamic offloading, the UE may obtain (collect and/or receive) information regarding channel conditions, cellular network parameters or application requirements and dynamically determine whether a task of the application executing on the UE should be offloaded to an edge server or executed locally on the UE. In making decisions between offloaded or local execution, the UE may use a utility function that takes into account factors such as relative differences in application latency, energy consumption and offloading cost.
