Abstract:
A turnable lock operable with driver and tumbler pins when positioned by a key at a shear line in which shearable assembly pins are assembled in the lock and thereafter sheared to form such driver and tumbler pins for operation thereon. Each assembly pin is selectively weakened at a plurality of locations which correspond with notched depth heights of the family of keys capable of insertion in the keyhole. Such weakening is controlled so that pin shearing can be accomplished by application of rotational or linear forces applied to any part of the lock except the key. When linear forces are used the tumbler or plug may be indexed to employ a driver pin as a plug lock.
Abstract:
Charge transfer devices which permit movement of charge carriers in two noncollinear directions in the surface plane of the device. A network of electrodes in two levels of metallization is combined with an appropriate doping of the storage medium to define the charge transfer paths. The direction of charge transfer is determined by an appropriate pulsing of the network which may take the form of different driving sequences of a number of phases in various embodiments. This concept may be used for both charge coupled and bucket brigade devices.
Abstract:
A new and distinct cultivar of Thuja tree named ‘RLH-CS’, characterized by its relatively compact, upright and narrowly pyramidal plant form; moderately vigorous growth habit and moderate to low growth rate; freely branching habit; dense and bushy form from base to top of the tree; lateral branches that are fine-textured and flexible and resist cracking and splitting; dark green-colored leaves that are soft and fine-textured and tolerate high humidity and high temperatures conditions; and good garden performance.
Abstract:
An ultrasound imaging system includes a beamformer (104) configured to beamform ultrasound signals. The beamformer includes input/output (110) configured to at least receive ultrasound signals. The ultrasound imaging system further includes a first ultrasound probe connector (128) and a second ultrasound probe connector (128). The ultrasound imaging system further includes a switch (134) that concurrently routes ultrasound signals concurrently received via the first ultrasound probe connector and the second ultrasound probe connector to the beamformer, which processes the ultrasound signals.
Abstract:
A new and distinct cultivar of Azalea plant named ‘RLH1-9P7’, characterized by its relatively compact, upright to outwardly spreading and globose plant habit; freely basal branching habit; dense and bushy appearance; vigorous growth habit and rapid growth rate; evergreen, persistent dark green-colored leaves that do not abscise during the winter; freely flowering habit with remontant flowering during the spring, summer and autumn; large, non-persistent single to semi-double flowers that are hot pink in color during the spring and becoming more rose red in color during the summer; and excellent garden performance and temperature tolerance.
Abstract:
A closed-loop ion guide is disclosed comprising a plurality of electrodes having apertures through which ions are transmitted in use. Ions are injected into the closed-loop ion guide and may make several circuits of the closed-loop ion guide before being ejected from the ion guide. In a mode of operation the ion guide may be arranged to separate ions temporally according to their ion mobility.
Abstract:
A continuously variable ratio transmission includes a planetary gear assembly with a sun gear fixed to a driving input shaft, and a driven output shaft connected to a planet carrier. A worm gear assembly includes a worm which is driven by a control motor and worm wheel which drives a ring gear of the planetary gear assembly at a continuously variable speed. The output shaft transmits power to a load while rotating in the same direction as the input shaft. In an embodiment, two worms are driven by the control motor. In another embodiment, the transmission is operable in reverse by only the control motor. In another embodiment, a control gear assembly drives the ring gear and includes parallel axis helical gears.
Abstract:
A mass spectrometer is disclosed comprising a segmented linear ion guide or ion trap. Ions are confined radially within the ion guide or ion trap by the application of an AC or RF voltage to the electrodes forming the ion guide or ion trap. A quadratic DC potential is applied along the axial length of the ion guide or ion trap in order to cause trapped ions to perform simple harmonic motion within the ion guide or ion trap. The frequency of the oscillations of the ions is detected using one or more inductive detectors. The mass to charge ratio of the ions can then be determined from the determined frequency of oscillations.
Abstract:
A mass spectrometer is disclosed comprising a first ion trap or ion guide (2), a single ion mobility spectrometer or separator stage (3) and a second ion trap or ion guide (4) arranged downstream of the ion mobility spectrometer or separator (3). In a mode of operation ions from the second ion trap or ion guide (4) are passed from the second ion trap or ion guide back upstream to the ion mobility spectrometer or separator (3).
Abstract:
A new and distinct cultivar of Azalea plant named ‘RLH1-13P11’, characterized by its compact, upright to outwardly spreading and mounding plant habit; freely basal branching habit; dense and bushy appearance; vigorous growth habit and rapid growth rate; evergreen, persistent dark green-colored leaves that do not abscise during the winter; freely flowering habit with remontant flowering during the spring, summer and autumn; single flowers that are purple in color with dark red purple-colored central spots and speckles; and excellent garden performance and temperature tolerance.
