    Abstract: A method includes: detecting, through a sensor, a location and a movement direction of the user and an object around the user; specifying the type and the location of the detected object; if the object is a dangerous object and is located in the movement direction of the user, setting a relative position where the robot is to be located relative to the user to a lead position ahead of the user and in a direction different from the movement direction; driving at least one pair of legs or wheels of the robot to cause the robot to move to the lead position; and driving the at least one pair of legs or wheels to cause the robot to accompany the user in the lead position and induce a change in the movement direction of the user.

    Abstract: An optical device includes a first waveguide extending in a first direction and a second waveguide connected to the first waveguide. The second waveguide includes a first mirror, a second mirror, and an optical waveguide layer. At least either the first waveguide or the second waveguide has one or more gratings in a part of a connection region in which the first mirror, the second mirror, and the first waveguide overlap one another when seen from an angle parallel with a direction perpendicular to a first reflecting surface of the first mirror. The one or more gratings is at a distance that is longer than at least either a thickness of the first mirror or a thickness of the second mirror in the first direction from an end of the first mirror or the second mirror that is in the connection region.

    Abstract: An imaging apparatus includes: an image sensor that captures a subject image formed to generate image data; a recorder that records first image data showing images sequentially captured by the image sensor at a shooting period; and a controller operates the image sensor with a frame period shorter than half period of the shooting period, to generate one or plural frames of second image data by capturing in another frame period than the frame period for capturing the first image data within the shooting period. The second image data shows an image used for control in the imaging apparatus, captured with a setting different from a setting for the first image data. The control is performed based on a plurality of frames of image data including the one or plural frames of second image data, the plurality of frames being obtained by multiple times of capturing in the shooting period.
