Abstract: Symbol alignment and power scaling are provided for different length transmission time intervals (TTIs) within predefined boundaries, such as boundaries of a slot of a subframe. Described techniques provide for identifying time and/or frequency resources for one or more TTIs and allocating such resources based on a location within a subframe, pilot signals that may be transmitted using the resources, other processing timelines, or any combination thereof. In some cases, a power allocation for symbols within a TTI may be determined based on the allocated resources for the TTI. Frequency hopping patterns and power scaling for three-symbol TTIs are also provided.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to synchronization channel design for a new carrier type. In certain aspects, a User Equipment (UE) may first search for legacy locations of PSS (Primary Synchronization Signal) and SSS (Secondary Synchronization Signal), and attach to a cell that transmits the legacy PSS/SSS. Then the UE may be provided with information indicating a search space for PSS and SSS of a new carrier. The UE may then search for the PSS and SSS for the new carrier based on the received information. The relative spacings in time between the PSS and SSS for the first carrier may be different from the relative spacings in time between the PSS and SSS for the second carrier. In alternative aspects, the UE may receive a frequency offset value and determine PSS/SSS locations for the new carrier based on the frequency offset value and spaced center frequencies.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may be scheduled for overlapping or concurrent uplink control information (UCI) transmissions on a non-low latency channel (e.g., physical uplink control channel (PUCCH)) and a low latency channel (shortened PUCCH (sPUCCH)). The UE may transmit on PUCCH or on sPUCCH, or both, according to the UE's configuration or capability. The UE may transmit low latency UCI on PUCCH and refrain from transmitting on sPUCCH, or the UE may transmit on sPUCCH and refrain from transmitting on PUCCH. In other examples, the UE may transmit on PUCCH and sPUCCH concurrently. The UE may split power between the PUCCH and sPUCCH so that the combined power of the two transmissions remains within a transmission power budget. In other examples, the UE may switch between concurrent transmissions and transmitting on one channel while refraining from transmitting on another channel.

Abstract: The apparatus enables pilot signals, whether single tone or multiple tone, that achieve a very low PAPR. After receiving an allocation for multiple tones, the apparatus determines a pilot signal for transmission. The apparatus may select tones from the allocation for transmission of a pilot signal based on a pilot pattern. The pilot pattern may comprise a tone sequence that identifies a sequences of tones, wherein each tone in the tone sequence of identifies one tone of multiple tones for transmission of a pilot signal during a given pilot symbol period. The pilot signal may also comprise a signal sequence. The apparatus may generate a set of multi-tone modulated pilot sequences, select a pilot sequence based on a cross-correlation property, and transmit a pilot signal using multiple tones of the allocation using the selected pilot sequence.

Abstract: Various aspects described herein relate to managing a soft buffer for decoding hybrid automatic repeat/request (HARQ) based transmissions in wireless communications. A legacy soft buffer size of a legacy soft buffer can be determined for decoding HARQ based transmissions in legacy communications, where the legacy communications are based on a first transmission time interval (TTI) of a first duration. Ultra low latency (ULL) communications can be received, where the ULL communications are based on a second TTI that is less than the first duration. A ULL soft buffer size for a ULL soft buffer for decoding HARQ based transmissions in the ULL communications can be determined. Contents of the ULL soft buffer can be managed based at least in part on the ULL soft buffer size.

Abstract: The described aspects include methods and apparatus for activating a transmitter to communicate in a wireless network. A small cell can determine to activate the transmitter to serve user equipment (UE) in a wireless network. The small cell can then broadcast a portion of a set of broadcast signals in a radio frame and broadcast a remaining portion of the set of broadcast signals along with the portion of the set of broadcast signals in a subsequent radio frame. By refraining from immediately broadcasting all broadcast signals, the small cell can mitigate interference to other small cells. In addition, a UE can determine whether to generate random access channel (RACH) sequences for proximity determination or uplink timing synchronization based on parameters received in a RACH order. Moreover, a small cell with an active transmitter can decode discovery signals from a device to facilitate handover determination.
