Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. In one method, a user equipment (UE) receives a timing synchronization signal (TSS) and a physical broadcast channel (PBCH), with the TSS based at least in part on a timing of the TSS within a broadcast channel transmission time interval (BCH TTI); determines the timing of the TSS within the BCH TTI; and demodulates the PBCH based at least in part on the TSS. In another method, a base station allocates resources for a TSS and a PBCH within a BCH TTI; determines the TSS based at least in part on a timing of the TSS within the BCH TTI; and transmits, on the resources allocated for the TSS and the PBCH, the TSS and the PBCH, with the TSS transmitted as a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) for the PBCH on at least one port used to transmit the TSS and the PBCH.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for selecting different uplink transmission parameters for transmission or retransmission of a random access message. A user equipment (UE) may retransmit a random access message to a base station during a random access procedure if an initial transmission of the random access message was unsuccessfully received by the base station. The UE may select a different transmission beam, uplink resource, or transmission power for retransmission of the random access message. The selection may be based on path loss associated with synchronization signals or previous transmissions. The selection may also be based on a maximum number of retransmissions.

Abstract: A parent access node may establish a first link with a child access node. In some cases, the parent access node may determine to release a resource of the first. The parent access node may transmit downlink signaling indicating release of the resource. As such, the child node may schedule a child link resource (e.g., a parent-controlled resource) corresponding to the released resource. The child node may then communicate with a child node of its own in accordance with the scheduling of the child link resource. In some cases, the resource release indication may be associated with a one-time resource release, or may be associated with a semi-persistent release (e.g., until the parent node reclaims the released resources). In some examples, the child node may transmit an uplink message to request resources from the parent node (e.g., and the resource release may be based on the request).

In aspects, a UE may receive, from a base station, a beam modification command indicating at least one beam index for communicating through at least one beam on a channel and indicating the channel corresponding to the at least one beam. In an aspect, each beam index of the at least one beam index indicating at least a direction for communicating through a corresponding beam of the at least one beam, where the beam modification command may be received in a MAC CE. The UE may communicate, with the base station, through the at least one beam corresponding to the at least one beam index on the channel.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for partitioning of time-frequency resources for access and backhaul links separately. A centralized scheduler in a centralized system or a set of access nodes (ANs) in a distributed system may allocate a portion of a set of resources for a given link type (e.g., access or backhaul). In some cases, multiple ANs may exchange reports or measurements to determine the resources to allocate to a given link type. The allocated resources may be repurposed for use by a different link type (e.g., access resources may be repurposed and used for backhaul resources) in order to account for varying traffic conditions.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device may identify a set of power configurations for a plurality of communications with at least one target device. The set of power configurations may be based at least in part on a type of signal, a type of channel, a parameter of the wireless device, a parameter of the target device, or a combination thereof. The wireless device may then determine a duplexing mode for the plurality of communications based at least in part on the set of power configurations. The duplexing mode may be, for example, a full duplex mode or a half-duplex mode. The wireless device may then transmit the plurality of communications to and/or receive the plurality of communications from the at least one target device according to the set of power configurations and the selected duplexing mode.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Synchronization signals may be transmitted using a set of phase offsets over different component carriers or using a single component carrier for each antenna port. For example, a base station may identify a set of synchronization signals (e.g., a set of primary synchronization signals (PSSs)) to be transmitted over one or multiple component carriers. In some cases, each PSS may be associated with a different component carrier, and the base station may apply a different phase offset to each PSS when transmitting the set of PSSs on the component carriers. In some examples, the base station may transmit the PSSs on the component carriers using a different antenna port for each component carrier.
