Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In one example, a base station may dynamically configure a user equipment (UE) to monitor or avoid monitoring for a preemption indication. Accordingly, the UE may have a lower chance of monitoring for a preemption indication when it is unlikely that an uplink or downlink transmission will be preempted. In another example, a base station may transmit a control message indicating whether future indications received from the base station are to be interpreted as preemption indications or permission indications. Accordingly, the base station may choose to use either preemption indications or permission indications (e.g., based on the probability of collisions between mobile broadband (MBB) and low latency transmissions) to facilitate MBB and low latency communication multiplexing with limited signaling.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support power allocation or resource allocation for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. For example, the described techniques provide for a wireless device transmitting an initial transmission associated with a data payload, such as a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) payload. The initial transmission may include a set of bits modulated using a first bit ordering scheme, and the set of bits may include a first bit subset that are transmitted with a lower transmission reliability than a second bit subset of the set of bits. The wireless device may modulate the first bit subset using a second bit ordering scheme that differs from the first bit ordering scheme to generate a modulated bit set. The second bit ordering scheme may be associated with a higher transmission reliability for the first bit subset. The wireless device may transmit the second transmission for the data payload with the modulated bit set.

Abstract: Certain aspects relate to methods and apparatus for a flexible transmission unit and acknowledgement feedback timeline for low-latency communication. As described herein, a UE may receive, within a subframe a first portion of a downlink control region scheduling at least a first data unit, wherein the subframe comprises at least two TTIs and wherein the subframe comprises the downlink control region, a data region, and an uplink control region, receive the first data unit in a first TTI of the data region, receive a second data unit in a second TTI of the data region, and separately acknowledge receipt of the first and second data units. According to aspects, the acknowledgment for the first data unit may occur in the same subframe as the transmission of the first data unit. A BS may perform corresponding operations.

Abstract: The disclosure relates in some aspects to an energy-aware architecture that supports a low power scheduling mode. For example, a media access control (MAC) architecture for a base station (e.g., an enhanced Node B) and associated access terminals (e.g., UEs) can take the power needs of the access terminals into account when scheduling the access terminals. In some aspects, an access terminal may support a particular frame structure for a low power mode. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide improved repetition techniques for autonomous uplink transmissions. Configuration information may be provided from a base station to a user equipment (UE) for autonomous uplink transmissions, that may indicate initial resources for an initial uplink transmission slot and retransmission resources for a number of retransmissions. Time resources within the retransmission resources may be configured to provide enhanced reliability, such as by being configured in non-contiguous slots to avoid one or more other transmission channels. Time resources within slots may also be configured to prevent persistent collisions with autonomous uplink transmissions or retransmissions of two or more different UEs.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to techniques for encoding and decoding bits of information using cyclic redundancy check (CRC) concatenated polar encoding and decoding. A method generally includes obtaining the bits of information to be transmitted. The method includes performing CRC outer encoding of the bits of information using an even-weighted generator polynomial to produce CRC encoded bits. The method includes performing polar inner encoding of the CRC encoded bits to generate a codeword. The method includes discarding a first code bit at a beginning of the codeword. The shortened codeword is transmitted over a wireless medium. In another method, bit-level scrambling is performed on the CRC encoded bits before the polar encoding to. In another method, only odd-weighted generator polynomials are selected.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some wireless communications systems may support hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) schemes to improve the likelihood that information is received correctly over a wireless communications link. In HARQ, when a transmitting device determines that a receiving device failed to successfully decode a transmission of information, the transmitting device may retransmit the information to the receiving device. In some cases, HARQ techniques may be used for communications associated with different types of services. In such cases, to keep the latency of communications within a latency budget for a particular type of service, wireless devices may utilize the techniques described herein to dynamically terminate HARQ retransmissions. For instance, a transmitting device may avoid retransmitting information when an amount of time that has elapsed since an original transmission of the information has exceeded the latency budget.
