Abstract: Within a satellite communications system, a base station communicates with standard compliant user equipment (UE) via a satellite having a field of view. The base station has a processor that instructs the satellite to generate a wide beam signal covering a plurality of cells in the field of view, and detects an access request from a user equipment within the plurality of cells over the wide beam signal. The base station, comprising a processing device such as an eNodeB, then generates one or more network broadcast/access signals that is uplink to a satellite and broadcasted via one or more nominal beams generated by the satellite, covering all the inactive cells, one of the plurality of cells having the access request.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the decoupling apparatus for an antenna, includes a body and a cross-finger portion coupled to the body and configured to change a capacitance of the decoupling apparatus. The cross-finger portion includes a first plurality of fingers extending along a first direction; and a second plurality of fingers extending along the first direction. At least one of the second plurality of fingers is provided between adjacent two fingers of the first plurality of fingers, and at least one of the first plurality of fingers is provided between adjacent two fingers of the second plurality of fingers.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for providing end-to-end beamforming. For example, end-to-end beamforming systems include end-to-end relays and ground networks to provide communications to user terminals located in user beam coverage areas. The ground segment can include geographically distributed access nodes and a central processing system. Return uplink signals, transmitted from the user terminals, have multipath induced by a plurality of receive/transmit signal paths in the end to end relay and are relayed to the ground network. The ground network, using beamformers, recovers user data streams transmitted by the user terminals from return downlink signals. The ground network, using beamformers generates forward uplink signals from appropriately weighted combinations of user data streams that, after relay by the end-end-end relay, produce forward downlink signals that combine to form user beams.

An example electronic device includes a first antenna operating at a first frequency range and coupled to a first transceiver via a first signal path comprising a first indirect feed. The electronic device also includes a second antenna operating at a second frequency range and coupled to a second transceiver via a second signal path comprising a second indirect feed, wherein the first frequency range is lower than the first frequency range. The electronic device also includes a third antenna operating at the second frequency range and coupled to a third transceiver via a second signal path comprising a third indirect feed. Additionally, the first antenna is coupled to the first antenna and the second antenna by a capacitive coupling element.

Abstract: An antenna apparatus includes a circuit board and an antenna body. The antenna body includes a first radiator and a second radiator that are indirectly coupled. The first radiator comprises a first stub and a second stub that are opposite to, but do not touch each other to form a first gap, the first stub and the second stub are located on a first side edge of the circuit board, a second gap is configured between the first stub and the first side edge, and also between the second stub and the first side edge. The second radiator is located on the circuit board to form a third gap in-between. A vertical projection of the second radiator is located on the first surface. The first stub and the second stub are electrically connected to reference ground of the circuit board separately.

The director includes a plurality of passive impedance elements that provide frequency-dependent reactances to currents induced therein responsive to electromagnetic radiation generated by the radiating element. The plurality of passive impedance elements include: (i) a primary capacitive element, (ii) a first series LC circuit having a first inductor therein electrically connected to a first portion of the primary capacitive element, and (iii) a second series LC circuit having a second inductor therein electrically connected to a second portion of the primary capacitive element.
