    摘要: An aqueous, oxidatively drying coating composition is provided, the binder system of which comprising (A) the polymer obtained by polymerization of a monoethylenically unsaturated compound in the presence of (B) an aqueous solution of an ionized, oxidatively drying alkyl resin, and (C) a dispersed, oxidatively drying alkyd resin having a number average molecular weight of 600-6000, a viscosity of at most 30 Pa.s, measured at 20.degree. C., an acid number of 0-20 and a hydroxyl number of 0-130, and built up of 3-40% by weight of a hydroxyl compound, 2-44% by weight of a carboxylic acid including a cycloaliphatic dicarboxylic acid, and 20-90% by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated fatty acid. Calculated on solid matter, component C forms 5-65% by weight of the binder system. The coating composition is preferably applied to wood.

    摘要: A paint that provides a textured surface when polymerized on a substrate by ionizing radiation which, exclusive of pigments and particulate mineral filler, consists essentially of a solution of a volatile, inert, organic solvent and a mixture including: (1) an alpha-beta olefinically unsaturated organic resin containing between about 0.5 and about 5 units of unsaturation per 1000 units of molecular weight; and (2) vinyl monomers in which the unsaturated organic resin has limited solubility, i.e., between about 1 and about 15 weight percent based on the weight of the monomer and which will copolymerize with the unsaturated organic resin upon exposure to ionizing radiation. The unsaturated organic resin and monomer are dissolved in the volatile, inert, organic solvent which is a mutual solvent for both the monomer and the prepolymer and applied to a substrate. After evaporation of the inert solvent, the coating is irradiated and polymerizes to form a textured coating.

R1 is an organic group, and each R2 is H or a chemisorbed group, with at least one R2 being a chemisorbed group. The polymer may be a nanostructured film. Also provided herein is a method of: converting a di-p-xylylene paracyclophane dimer to a reactive vapor of monomers; depositing the reactive vapor onto a substrate held at an angle relative to the vapor flux to form nanostructured poly(p-xylylene) film; reacting the film with an agent to form hydrogen atoms that are reactive with a precursor of a chemisorbed group, if the film does not contain the hydrogen atoms; and reacting the hydrogen atoms with the precursor. Also provided herein is a device having a nanostructured polyp-xylylene) film on a pivotable substrate. The film has directional hydrophobic or oleophobic properties and directional adhesive properties.
