摘要: A particulate feed comprising a first particle type and a second particle type is separated by providing a separation apparatus having a separation vessel having a top and a bottom, and wherein the separation vessel includes inwardly sloping side walls. A magnet structure has a first pole positioned exterior of and adjacent to each of the side walls of the separation vessel, and a second pole positioned above the separation vessel. A mixture of the particulate feed and a ferrofluid is introduced into the separation vessel, and the particulate feed is separated into a first particle fraction comprising a majority of the first particle type, which sinks in the separation vessel, and a second particle fraction comprising a majority of the second particle type which floats in the separation vessel.

摘要: Apparatus and method for treating solids contaminated by alkaline earth metal scales which have naturally occurring radioactive material entrained throughout the scale. The equipment and method of the present invention may be used on site to clean stored contaminated solids so that as a result of the treatment the solids may be disposed of as non-hazardous oil field waste and the radioactive isotopes may be dispersed in aqueous solution. The apparatus and method of the invention provide for placing contaminated solids and a treatment fluid in a fluid contact zone which is designed to provide optimum chemical activity for treating the contaminating scale so as to release the radioactive isotopes into solution. Once the release of the isotopes is complete to a target level of radioactivity, the treating fluid is then separated from the solids which are then reduced to non-hazardous oil field waste.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for acoustic fiber fractionation using a plane ultrasonic wave field interacting with water suspended fibers circulating in a channel flow using acoustic radiation forces to separate fibers into two or more fractions based on fiber radius, with applications of the separation concept in the pulp and paper industry. The continuous process relies on the use of a wall-mounted, rectangular cross-section piezoelectric ceramic transducer to selectively deflect flowing fibers as they penetrate the ultrasonic field. The described embodiment uses a transducer frequency of approximately 150 kHz. Depending upon the amount of dissolved gas in water, separation is obtained using a standing or a traveling wave field.

摘要: A device for disintegration of argillaceous materials comprises a plurality of vanes 8 mounted on the inner surface of the housing 1 between the outlets of the feed pipes 2 and 3 and the inlets of the discharge pipes 4 and 5. Each of the vanes 8 is arranged in a manner such that the angle between the tangent 11 to the cylindrical surface 1 in the plane of the vane 8 and the plane 12 perpendicular to the axis 6 of the housing 1, is between 0 and 60 degrees. As the hydraulic fluid stream impinges upon the vanes 8, the argillaceous material is multiply exposed to pressure differentials and cavitation, this favoring faster impregnation of clay lumps with water and their disintegration leading to separation of mineral grams.

摘要: A plant for the separation at high temperatures of contaminants from plastic material in small pieces or in leaves, including at least one stage (2) for the separation of contaminants, which in turn includes a centrifugal separator device designed to separate an input flow of plastic material in small pieces or in leaves, with contaminants and a conveying fluid comprising water and steam, into a main flow of the material and the conveying fluid and into a secondary flow of the contaminants and the conveying fluid. The separation stage includes, moreover, a cyclone designed to receive in input the secondary flow and to divide it into a discharge flow of the contaminants and water and into a flow of steam which is conveyed towards the inlet of the separation device of the same stage and/or of the previous stages. A final cyclone (3) is preferably provided, connected in cascade to all the possible stages of separation of the plant to receive in input the main flow in output at the final stage and separate it, in turn, into a flow of material and water conveyed to the outside of the plant, and into a flow of steam conveyed towards the inlet of the separation device of at least one of the stages which precede it.

摘要: A suspension containing fine and coarse particles is sprayed under high pressure by way of spray nozzles (10) against a rotating filter medium (7), so that the suspension is separated into a fine fraction, which passes through the filter medium and which contains said fine particles, and a coarse fraction, which does not pass through the filter medium and which contains said coarse particles. According to the invention the filter medium (7) is rotated by way of a drive motor (6) at a speed such that coarse particles and liquid developing on the side of the filter medium are removed from the filter medium substantially as the result of the centrifugal force the coarse particles and liquid are subjected to. In consequence the filter medium is efficiently kept clean during operation, which increases the capacity and improves the separation efficiency.
