Abstract:
A docking station is provided. The docking station has a base with a digital camera receiving area adapted to position a digital camera so that the digital camera is directed at an object mount. The object mount is adapted to position a subject object at a distance of less than one meter from a lens system of the digital camera. A communication circuit is adapted to exchange data between the dock controller and a camera controller in the digital camera when the digital camera is in the digital camera receiving area. The exchange of data causes the camera controller to adapt a setting of an image capture system in the camera for the capture of an image of the subject object.
Abstract:
A backlight module with two translucent faces applicable to operations of scanner is used for scanning of transparent documents. The backlight module has a shell and a light source unit disposed in the shell. The shell has a first translucent portion and a second translucent portion corresponding to each other. The light source unit in the shell can emit light via the first translucent portion and the second translucent portion. When the backlight module is used for scanning of a transparent document and the transparent document is placed outside the first translucent portion, the user can preview the content of the transparent document before scanning via the second translucent portion.
Abstract:
The image reading system comprises an image reading device and a computer, which can be connected to the image reading device to operate it. In the image reading device, a film, in which an image is recorded, is regularly intermittently moved, so that the image is read by a line sensor. In a pre-scanning operation, the film is moved with a pitch which is coarser than that of a regular scanning operation, so that a pre-view image is read by the line sensor, and is displayed on a screen of a liquid crystal display device. A control bar, indicated on the screen along with the pre-view image, is operated by handling a track ball and a click button, so that an image quality of the pre-view image is adjusted. Namely, even in a stand-alone mode in which the image reading device is operated independently from the computer, the image quality of the pre-view image can be adjusted.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus having an illuminating device for illuminating a film original, an image reading device for reading an image on the film original illuminated by the illuminating device and outputting image signals. The image reading apparatus further includes a type discriminating device for discriminating whether the film original is a first film original or a second film original having different film sizes, and a reading scope modifying device for modifying the reading scope of the image reading means according to the result of discrimination of the type discriminating means.
Abstract:
The color correcting method and the image reading apparatus estimate a spectral sensitivity characteristic of an image reading apparatus using a measured value obtained by measuring a reference original with a preset measuring instrument or a characteristic value of the reference original and a statistic calculated by analyzing an image signal value obtained by reading the reference original with the image reading apparatus, create an input color correction parameter from the estimated spectral sensitivity characteristic and correct an image signal of an original image read with the image reading apparatus using the input color correction parameter. As a result, according to the method and the apparatus, when the original image is photoelectrically read, the dispersion of the spectral sensitivities of scanners (image reading apparatus) can be preferably corrected, whereby images of high quality in which appropriate colors are reproduced can be stably reproduced in a digital photoprinter and the like.
Abstract:
A transparency adapter for use with a scanner comprising a scanner light source, a scanner platen and a scanner lid. The transparency adapter comprises a light table comprising a stationary light source separate from the scanner light source. The stationary light source comprises a light table operating state for illuminating transparent media for viewing and a transparency adapter operating state for illuminating transparent media while it is being scanned by the scanner, thereby creating a scanned image of the transparent media, the scanned image having an output orientation. The transparency adapter further comprises at least one mounting device on the light table to hold the transparent media in an input orientation during the light table operating state.
Abstract:
An image reader apparatus includes: an image pickup device which is controllably exposed to an object to produce an image signal of the object; a mover which moves the object and the image pickup device relative to each other; a storage operable to store an image signal; a writing device which is operable to write an image signal in the storage; a reading device which is operable to read an image signal from the storage; a discriminator which discriminates whether one of the writing device and the reading device is in operation; and a controller which controls the exposure of the image pickup device in accordance with a result of the discriminator.
Abstract:
In order to accurately perform correction of focal distance and color of film before pre-scanning, the image at the generally center area of the first frame of film is read in a first pre-scan, auto-focusing and judgment between negative/positive is made, exposure parameters are set in a second pre-scanning, and the image is read in main scanning.
Abstract:
A scanner system digitizes 35 mm transparencies or negatives, and converts the image to a format compatible with popular microcomputer systems. This scanner system can accommodate various formats, and has variable zoom, pan and window size. Color separation is accomplished by an illumination arrangement causing rapid sequential generation of red, green and blue components. A low wattage light source is used, and color balance is achieved by adjusting the respective exposure times of the three primary colors. The system has internal calibration to achieve repeatable color balance. The system implements a wide variety of color coding schemes ranging in resolution from 1 to 24 bits. An adaptive process compresses the data in order to optimize the color selection process. The illumination optics are anamorphotic for high efficiency. Mechanical and electrical interfaces are compatible with a conventional 51/4" floppy disk drive standard.
Abstract:
A photographic slide-to-video tape converter having an elongated supporting base, a video camera mount associated with the base for detachably securing a video camera to the base with the camera lens in a predetermined position, support structure projecting from the base, a photographic slide carrier structure for supporting a slide for imaging by a camera connected to the base, and a light directing unit for directing light through a slide supported by the slide carrier into the lens of a video camera secured to the base. The slide carrier structure has a slide positioner and slide engaging assembly for receiving and supporting a slide at a predetermined position in alignment with the camera lens position. The light directing unit directs light through the slide to the camera lens.
