摘要: A heat-recoverable article comprises a memory metal member to which has been imparted both thermally-recoverable and resiliently-recoverable strain. The resilient strain is retained by means of a disburdenable keeper, preferably one made from fusible or chemically degradable material, which can be removed, for example, by heating or chemical treatment, to allow resilient recovery. The article is preferably so constructed that it can be heated to obtain both thermal and resilient recovery simultaneously. One preferred form of article is a radially expanded longitudinally split tube, the keeper being positioned in the split. Such an article can be used as a connector to secure an earth lead to the sheath of a mineral-insulated cable.

摘要: A method for forming a cover assembly on an electrical power transmission cable includes: mounting a tubular cover member around the cable such that a portion of the cover member defines a cavity surrounding the cable; providing a flowable electrical stress grading material in the cavity; and applying a vacuum to the cavity to evacuate air from the cavity and compact the electrical stress grading material in the cavity.

摘要: A splicing member for sealing a crimped wire splice sleeve without application of high temperatures or chemical reactions is disclosed. The splicing member includes a cylindrical locking member having one or more lock tabs and/or one or more retaining clips. The lock tabs and/or retaining clips are engaged by the insertion of a crimped wire splice sleeve into the splicing member and lock the crimped wire splice sleeve into the splicing member. A rubber sheath is formed around the cylindrical locking member including sealing sections having parallel circular openings concentric with the outer surface of the sheath. The sealing sections prevent environmental conditions from reaching the crimped wire splice sleeve locked inside the cylindrical locking member. For example, moisture is prevented from reaching the crimped wire splice sleeve.

摘要: A cover assembly for covering an electrical substrate includes a double-walled, tubular sleeve defining an interior cavity between the walls thereof. The sleeve further defines a passage to receive the substrate. An uncured thermosetting polymer is disposed in the interior cavity. The sleeve can be installed on the substrate and the uncured thermosetting polymer cured thereon into a hardened resin to form a rigid cover assembly on the substrate, the rigid cover assembly including the sleeve and the hardened resin.

摘要: In providing an electrically insulative covering for a cable splice, a sleeve is assembled with an outer rigid shell and is maintained in fluid-sealed relation therewith. A supply of positively pressurized air is placed with the assembled sleeve and outer member, in fluid-sealed relation with the sleeve interior. The sleeve is expanded into contiguous relation with the outer member by the pressurized air. The expanded assembly is placed over the splice and the fluid-sealed relation of sleeve and outer member is interrupted, causing the sleeve to collapse upon the splice and cables, whereupon the outer member is removed and discarded.
