    摘要: A presently-preferred capacitor discharge system for a circuit breaker adapted for use in a switchgear enclosure comprises a capacitor discharge circuit adapted to be electrically coupled to the capacitor, and a contact switch electrically coupled to the capacitor discharge circuit and adapted to be mechanically coupled to a support truck of the circuit breaker. The contact switch is movable between a first and a second position. The system also comprises a resistor electrically coupled to the capacitor discharge circuit, and a lever arm adapted to be rigidly coupled to a racking mechanism of the circuit breaker and adapted to urge the contact switch into the closed position when a locking arm of the racking mechanism disengages from the switchgear enclosure. The capacitor discharge system is adapted to electrically couple the capacitor and the resistor when the contact switch is in the second position thereby discharging the capacitor.

    摘要: A presently-preferred embodiment of a circuit breaker comprises a contact mechanism adapted to be electrically coupled to an electrical circuit. The contact mechanism comprises a first contact member and a second contact member being movable in relation to the first contact member. The circuit breaker also comprises an actuator mechanism comprising an armature mechanically coupled to the second contact member. The armature is selectively positionable between a closed position in which the armature urges the second contact member into electrical contact with the first contact member thereby permitting energization of the electrical circuit, and an open position in which the armature urges the second contact member away from the first contact member thereby inhibiting energization of the electrical circuit.

    摘要: An electrical switch includes a housing, fixed contact elements fixed with respect to the housing, and movable contact elements movable with respect to the housing. Each of the movable contact elements is positioned directly opposite from a respective fixed contact element. An auxiliary frame is positioned within the housing and has four bearing eyes offset by 90.degree. with respect to each other. Two first pivot pins are offset by 180.degree. with respect to each other and form a first pivot axis. The two first pivot pins are rotatably received by a respective one of a first bearing eye pair of the auxiliary frame. Two second pivot pins are offset by 180.degree. with respect to each other and form a second pivot axis. The two second pivot pins are rotatably received by a respective one of a second bearing eye pair of the auxiliary frame. An actuating member is operable with the first pivot pins and the second pivots pins for moving about the first pivot axis and the second pivot axis from a neutral position to four actuating positions. In each actuating position the actuating member actuates a respective movable contact element causing the respective movable contact element to contact a respective fixed contact element for enabling a corresponding switching function.

    摘要: A switch assembly has dual spring biased plungers which operate several switches within a single housing. The dual plungers act independently of one another to provide switch redundancy if required. The plungers have rectangular surfaces with cams, and the switches have cam followers which operate the switches. In an alternative application, some of the switches may be replaced with a printed circuit board and a plunger with multi-finger wiping contacts. The printed circuit board and plunger with multi-finger wiping contacts arrangement allows the switch to produce a signal that is related to the distance of pedal movement. Additionally, a capacitor is provided on the housing for the purposes of filtering any electrical signal produced by electrical contact arching in a switch used in a high voltage circuit. The capacitor is held in the switch assembly by a box and a holding clip. The capacitor's placement in the switching circuit is such that it is in parallel with the switch.

The compact configuration of the sub-miniature switches allows one or more of the switches to be activated simply by pivoting the arm.     摘要: A detecting device is disclosed for detecting undesired movement of a shaft such as a wrist pin relative to a bearing such as a wrist pin bearing. The detecting device includes a housing a rod pivotally mounted to the housing, and at least one detecting switch mounted on the housing adjacent the rod. A pointed end portion of the rod engages the shaft. The rod pivots when a point on the longitudinal axis of the shaft moves from a central axis of the bearing. As a consequence, a portion of the rod located adjacent to the detecting switch is pivoted from its normally centered position to an off-center position and actuates the detecting switch.

    摘要: A computer-controlled apparatus (1) for electrical testing of the make-and-break characteristics of electrical switches (15), including characteristics when the switches are actuated very slowly. The apparatus automatically feeds the switches into a test position (16), "breaks them in" by cycling them through many operations, and tests their switching parameters. The amount of hysteresis (54) between a switch actuator's (38) positions at actuation (30) and deactuation (56) is a criterion for sorting the switches. Switches are automatically classified and marked (14) according to their tested characteristics, and sorted into bins (28, 29). Any undesirable electrical "deadbreak" (an excessive transfer delay) during the operation of a double-throw switch's contacts is detectable by both a Timer Method and a Limit Switch Method, and faulty switches are reliably rejected. The apparatus increases accuracy in the testing of switches and reduces human errors such as those caused by fatigue.
