    摘要: The present disclosure provides a sealing ring assembly having a sealing ring and a reinforcement, configured to seal a high-pressure region from a lower pressure region of a piston and cylinder device. The sealing ring may be segmented, and a metal layer, wire, or other reinforcement may be affixed to the ring. The reinforcement is placed into tension against the sealing ring, which is correspondingly placed into compression. The composite structure of a relatively brittle sealing ring and reinforcement provides for reduced tensile loads in the sealing ring, thus extending life and reducing the likelihood of failure. The brittle portion of the sealing ring assembly may include a polymer or ceramic such as graphite, which is relatively less strong in tension than compression.

    摘要: A fin structure for cooling cold-heat refrigerant and another fin structure (slender grooves or the like) constituting a working gas flow passage are formed on the outer and inner surfaces of the heat exchange housing constituting a low-temperature heat exchanger by a lost was casting method so that these fin structures are formed integrally with the heat exchange housing. In addition, a fin structure and another fin structure constituting a working gas flow passage are integrally formed on the outer and inner surfaces of a high-temperature side heat exchanger (heat rejector). Accordingly, the heat exchangers of a Stirling machine can be manufactured in a simple structure by the lost wax casting method, whereby the workability can be enhanced and the manufacturing cost can be reduced. In addition, the precision for the workability can be enhanced, and the heat exchange efficiency and the reliability can be enhanced.

    摘要: A rechargeable energy cell providing a thermal energy output during discharge, and which recharges electrically. The cell contains chemical reactants and reactant product. The reactants are controllably combined in a reaction portion of the cell to produce the reactant product and the thermal energy output. In the preferred embodiment, the reaction portion is designed to facilitate heat transfer. The reactant product is electrolyzed into the reactants, which are separated and stored in the cell, by at least one electrode in operational communication with the reactant product. The electrode has a hollow internal cavity, and a portion of the electrode functions as a valve to convey one of the reactants electrolyzed by the electrode into the cavity without conveying the reactant product into the cavity. The system is fully reversible and results in energy densities which are over 1 kilowatt-hour per Kilogram of cell weight. The cell is also capable of extremely high specific power rates of over 2 kilowatts per Kilogram.

    摘要: A multifuel hybrid heat engine having an internal combustion system and an external combustion system wherein a coaxial array of three tappet valves controls the expansion from the external combustion system to the internal combustion system and the drive of the common piston member which cooperates with a working cylinder and another cylinder coaxial therewith and received within the working cylinder. The piston member with its inner and outer pistons cooperates with these cylinders to define not only upper cylinder motors but also lower cylinder motors and air compressors for scavenging the air supply.

    摘要: The invention relates to a seal for a piston and a cylinder of a double-acting hot gas engine or other applications in which piston rings of plastic materials should be used.A duct having low resistance against gas flow is provided between the high pressure of the seal and the bottom of a groove for the piston ring. The resistance against gas flow between the high pressure side and the piston ring along the piston and cylinder walls is substantially greater. Thus the piston ring will immediately be forced into a sealing position when the engine is pressurized.
