    摘要: The invention provides a method and a system for sealing an annulus enclosing a tubular element in a wellbore. The method comprises the steps of introducing a first drilling fluid in the wellbore; drilling an open hole section of the wellbore using a drilling tool suspended at the end of a drill string; replacing the drilling fluid with a sealing fluid; extending the tubular element into the open hole section of the wellbore; and flushing part of the sealing fluid out of the wellbore, leaving an annulus between the tubular element and a wellbore wall filled with a layer of sealing fluid. The aforementioned steps may be repeated as required.

    摘要: In one embodiment, there is provided a system for liner drilling in a wellbore that includes a drill bit, a mud motor, a reamer, a drill pipe work string including an expandable liner hanger running tool, and a thruster coupled to an expandable liner hanger and liner. A release pin may be provided in the expandable liner hanger running tool that can be sheared to de-couple the expandable liner hanger from the expandable liner hanger running tool allowing the drill pipe work string to be removed from the borehole while the liner remains in place. A latch coupling is also provided for coupling the expandable liner hanger running tool to the expandable liner hanger when the drill pipe work string is tripped back into the borehole so the liner drilling can be performed using the thruster until the thruster is at full stroke.

    摘要: Perforations in an existing borehole are covered with an expandable clad or elongated tubular that is expanded on location with the expansion equipment then removed. The dad is made of a disintegrating material such as a controlled electrolytic material known as CEM and is expanded into position to cover the existing perforations. One or more plugs are run in with perforating guns and the plugs set with the guns moved away from the set plug and fired to make new perforation. After each new perforation is made a ball is delivered to the plug to isolate a portion of the well and the new perforations are treated such as in a fracturing or another operation. Over time or with exposure to well fluids or temperatures the clad disintegrates and the original well drift diameter is regained so that subsequent production or injection is not impeded.

The setting tool includes a stretching mandrel and a liner top releasably attached to the setting tool. The liner top includes banded elastomer sheaths positioned in multiple locations along its length. The apparatus may also include a roller screw, operatively attached to the setting tool, so that a rotational movement imparted to the work string causes a forward, rotational movement of the stretching mandrel and engages the stretching mandrel with an inner portion of the liner top so that a protuberance is formed on the inner portion of the liner top and a groove is formed on an outer surface of the liner top.

    摘要: A method of forming a supported subterranean well bore in which, in one disclosed embodiment, a first drill bit is mounted on a first string of casing tubulars via a steerable tool, and the drill bit is used to form a first bore. Upon reaching the required depth the casing string is cemented in place to support the formed bore and a second drill bit is mounted on a second casing string and is inserted into the first casing string. The second drill bit is used to drill through the wall of the first casing string and proceed to form a second, deeper bore. Once the second drill bit has reached the required depth, the second casing string is cemented in place to support the second bore.

    摘要: A tool for forming a valve seat within a well that is capable of catching an obstruction will prevent flow of fluid downstream of the seat. According to one embodiment of the invention, the seat is formed by expanding a sleeve with a ring positioned around its periphery or as a subsequent step in the process. As the sleeve is expanded over the ring, the seat is formed. Once the seat is formed, an obstruction in the form of a ball or dart is dropped down to the seat. In another embodiment, the sleeve acts as a stop for a secondary valve seat which catches the obstruction.
