Abstract: A method includes running a workover liner, having a workover liner top end, into the workover well, installing a crossover bottom end of a crossover to the workover liner top end, installing a crossover top end of the crossover to a tieback casing bottom end of a tieback casing, running the workover liner, crossover, and tieback casing into the workover well such that the workover liner is set within the production liner, the crossover is set above the liner hanger of the production liner, and the tieback casing is set within the production casing and extends to a surface location. The method further includes cementing the workover liner, crossover, and tieback casing with cement and leaving behind a shoe track. The cement holds the workover liner, crossover, and tieback casing in place within the workover well and prevents leakage of fluids out of the workover well.

Abstract: A cementing tool and a method for cementing a casing string using the cementing tool is provided. The cementing tool comprises threaded top and bottom openings for attaching to a casing string, a plurality of ports, and a plurality of shear plugs shaped to fit within the ports. In the method, a casing string comprising the cementing tool is run into a well and the cementing process of the casing string is initiated. When the casing shoe of the casing string becomes plugged, the cementing tool is activated without removing the casing string from the well. Activation of the cementing tool releases pressure trapped in the cementing tool, thereby releasing the shear plugs from the ports and opening the ports to create alternative passages for the cement to complete the cementing process.

Abstract: The present casing wiper plug system and method includes a novel top wiper plug and a dissolvable blocking element. The top wiper plug includes a rupture disk and an open tail section configured and dimensioned to receive the dissolvable blocking element. The blocking element can be dissolved by a solvent and can dissolve quickly given the size or materials of the blocking element. When used in conjunction with a bottom wiper plug and a displacement fluid, the central bores of the top and bottom wiper plugs and shoe track provide an open passage to the formation allowing future injection or fracking fluid to access the formation. The blocking element is released into a seat of the open tail section to temporarily block the passage so a casing test can be performed on the casing. After the test is complete, the blocking element is dissolved to reopen the passage.

Abstract: Embodiments of methods for reducing lost circulation in a wellbore comprise inserting a conduit comprising a first and second end and an outer diameter and an inner diameter into the wellbore, and pumping a thixotropic cement slurry, wherein the thixotropic cement slurry will increase in viscosity with no shear and decrease in viscosity with shear, and have a power law exponent value of less than or equal to 0.3 when the thixotropic cement slurry has a density of greater than 12.69 pounds per gallon, through the conduit into the wellbore, in which the thixotropic cement slurry comprises at least one cement, at least one viscosifier, mix water, and one or more than one strength accelerating additives. The method further comprises allowing the thixotropic cement slurry to harden in the wellbore to create a plug, removing the conduit from the wellbore, and reducing lost circulation via the plug in the wellbore.

Abstract: A liner is cemented bottom up and then top down followed by setting the simultaneously set liner hanger/packer and releasing the running tool. In one embodiment the ported sub for top down cementing has ports opened and then closed with multiple dropped or pumped balls one of which lands in the running tool to set the hanger packer with pressure before running tool removal. A dart with a leading ball can follow the top down cement to close the ported sub and thereafter land in the liner hanger/packer to set it with pressure. A dart can lead the top down cement and open the ported sub followed by a second dart behind the top down cement to close the ported sub and land in the liner hanger/packer to set it and to release the running tool. The ported sub can be operated in other ways such as motors responsive to a remote signal.
