Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for determining tone patterns and associated overlay codes for transmission of reference signals. A tone pattern (e.g., with each tone pattern occupying a resource element in a resource block) can be determined for a reference signal for use in wireless communications between a receiving device and a transmitting device. The tone pattern can include an irregular combination of resource elements in one or more resource blocks for the reference signal. The resource elements can be shared by a plurality of antennas for communication of one or more reference signals between at least the user equipment and the base station. An overlay code may be determined for the tone pattern. Information associated with the transmission of the reference signal using the tone pattern and the overlay code may be communicated by the receiving device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a base station and a user equipment (UE) may use multiple transmissions associated with a random access procedure to refine a beam that is used for subsequent portions of the access procedure. A UE may transmit a random access request to the base station and, in response thereto, the base station may transmit a control channel order to the UE. The control channel order may indicate that the UE is to transmit a modified random access request to the base station. The base station may monitor for the modified random access request using different beamforming parameters in order to determine a refined beam to be used for a subsequent transmission in the random access procedure. The base station may then use the refined beam to transmit a random access response to the UE, and complete the access procedure.

Abstract: A base station determines a temporal filter configuration for a user equipment (UE) and transmits the temporal filter configuration to the UE. The temporal filter configuration indicates whether the UE should apply a temporal filter to channel state information (CSI) measurements to generate CSI values, or identifies which temporal filter to apply. The UE generates CSI values based on the temporal filter configuration and reports the generated CSI values to the base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for scheduled communications in which multiple different communication instances are scheduled between a user equipment (UE) and a base station. Different communication parameters for different communication instances may be selected based on reported channel conditions between the UE and the base station. Subsequent to a report of channel conditions results in chanced communication parameters, the UE may blind decode a one or more scheduled communications using multiple candidate sets of decoding hypotheses to identify a first candidate set of decoding parameters that is used for the first scheduled communication. Such techniques provide that communication parameters may be adjusted based on channel conditions, and a UE may decode a communication in the event that the base station does not successfully receive a measurement report and continues transmissions using a prior set of parameters.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may attempt to connect to a base station using a random access procedure. During the random access procedure, the base station may transmit control information associated with a random access response (RAR) during a RAR window. The UE may attempt to receive a single instance of the control information and, in some cases, may be unable to receive and decode the single instance of the control information. The base station may configure one or more RAR windows (or segment(s) thereof) to support transmitting repeating instances of the control information and/or RAR. The UE may identify a quantity of instances of the repeated control information and combine the instances. The UE may successfully decode the combined instances of control information and identify a location for receiving the RAR.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support resource selection and indication for sidelink demodulation reference signal (DMRS) bundling. A transmitting UE determines sidelink resources for bundling a sidelink DMRS transmission to be transmitted to a receiving UE. In sidelink mode 1, the sidelink resources may be determined based on indications from a base station, which may include whether the transmitting UE is to maintain phase continuity over the sidelink resources during the bundling, or whether the transmitting UE is to include a phase jump reference signal with the bundled DMRS transmission to the receiving UE. In sidelink mode 2, the transmitting UE may select the sidelink resources based on the phase continuity capabilities of the transmitting UE and/or of the receiving UE, and/or based on a sensing of the sidelink channel. In some cases, the receiving UE may provide a resource recommendation to the transmitting UE.

The UE may identify, based at least in part on a determination that the PBCH communication indicates a reference signal that is to be transmitted prior to transmission of a remaining minimum system information (RMSI) physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) communication, one or more radio resources in which the reference signal is to be transmitted.
