    Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from improved random access procedures. For example, it may be helpful to improve random access procedure when a network entity does not have any downlink data to transmit. A method, according to certain embodiments, may include receiving at a network entity from a user equipment a short contention resolution identifier. The method may also include transmitting from the network entity to the user equipment downlink control information comprising at least the short contention resolution identifier on a physical downlink control channel.

    Abstract: An apparatus including circuitry for: entering, at the user equipment, a radio resource control connected state with a first network for providing a first subscription associated with the user equipment, the user equipment being associated with a second subscription provided via a second network, wherein the second subscription is in a radio resource control non-connected state; and in response to determining that one or more operations are to be performed for the second subscription within a first time period: determining a first priority for performing one or more operations for the first subscription within at least part of the first time period; determining a second priory for performing said one or more operations for the second subscription; based on the determined priorities, selecting one of the one or more operations for the first subscription and the one or more operations for the second subscription to perform first.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for user-plane switching of traffic for dual connectivity. In some example embodiments, there is provided a method. The method may include receiving, at a serving gateway, an indication to persist a first tunnel identifier located at a master base station, while the serving gateway sends, towards a second tunnel identifier located at a secondary node, user plane traffic for a user equipment in dual connectivity with the master base station and the secondary node; and switching, at the serving gateway, the user plane traffic between the second tunnel identifier and the first tunnel identifier, when the serving gateway receives, via a user plane, an error indication and/or a switch indication. Related apparatus, systems, methods, and articles are also described.

    Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products are disclosed for contention based shared preconfigured uplink resource configuration. An example method includes receiving an assignment of contention based shared preconfigured uplink resources; receiving an assignment of a common radio network temporary identifier for monitoring downlink control information indicating a negative acknowledgement for contention based shared transmission, and a dedicated radio network temporary identifier for monitoring downlink control information indicating an acknowledgement of transmission of uplink data; transmitting the uplink data using a physical uplink shared channel allocated for the contention based shared preconfigured uplink resource transmission; in response to the downlink control information indicating the negative acknowledgement and uplink grants for multiple physical uplink shared channel resources, retransmitting the uplink data on a selected one of the received uplink grants; and in response to the downlink control information indicating the acknowledgment, not retransmitting the uplink data.

    Abstract: Network initiated re-authorization for coverage enhancement It is provided a method, comprising checking if a device is authorized for initiating an access in an extended coverage; inhibiting the device to initiate the access while the device camps in the extended coverage and the device is not authorized for the initiating of the access in the extended coverage; monitoring if a paging message for the device is received while the device camps in the extended coverage, wherein the paging message is to initiate a signaling access in the extended coverage for a signaling procedure to get the latest status of coverage authorization; allowing the device to initiate the signaling access while the device camps in the extended coverage if the paging message is received.
