Abstract: A turbo encoded H-ARQ system and an error detection method are disclosed, and more particularly, a turbo encoded H-ARQ system and an error detection method that lower an undetected error probability and frame error rates by increasing the degree of an equivalent CRC generator polynomial by using a modified trellis termination. It has been made possible to obtain an equivalent CRC generator polynomial having higher degree than the related art CRC generator polynomial by employing a modified trellis termination. This achieved a lower undetected error probability than the related art undetected error probability by using an equivalent CRC generator polynomial having higher degree. This also achieved lower frame error rates, when the same number of overhead bits are used, due to the lower undetected error probability.

Abstract: A method of driving a plasma display panel that is adaptive for improving brightness and efficiency. In the method, a sustaining pulse for sustaining a discharge of a cell selected in a sustaining interval is alternately applied to each of a sustaining electrode pair. A pulse signal synchronized with the sustaining pulse is applied to a data electrode to cause a discharge for inducing a long-path discharge between the sustaining electrode pair between any one of the sustaining electrode pair and the data electrode.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for decoding received signals on communication channels between at least one transmit antenna and plural receive antennas in a space-time coded direct sequence (DS)-CDMA communication system. The decoding method includes steps of: adjusting the step-size which is an update unit for the tap weight vector for despreading received signals; updating the tap weight vector using the step-size; and despreading the received signals using the tap weight vector. According to the decoding method, the optimal performance can be achieved because the tap weight vector and the step-size are adaptively updated according to changes of communication environment. Such superior performance is more remarkable as the number of receive antennas and transmit antennas increases.

Abstract: There is provided a dust compressing apparatus for a dust collecting unit of a vacuum cleaner. In the dust compressing apparatus, a compartment plate divides an inner space of a dust collection container into an upper foreign substance separating compartment and a lower foreign substance storing compartment, and a branching unit guides airflow. The branching unit includes a motor connection passage directed to a motor generating a negative pressure, a dust collection passage directed to the foreign substance separating compartment, and a compression passage directed to the foreign substance storing compartment. A flow passage control unit controls connections between the passages of the branching unit. A compression unit compresses foreign substances stored in the foreign substance storing compartment by moving the compartment plate to the foreign substance storing compartment using the negative pressure transmitted through the compression passage.

Abstract: A dust collecting unit for a vacuum cleaner is provided. The dust collecting unit includes a filter assembly for filtering foreign objects coupled to a dust collecting cover which covers a dust collecting canister (320). The dust collecting canister receives and air foreign object mixture and accumulates the foreign objects therein. The filter assembly is disposed inside the dust collecting canister and filters out the foreign objects from the mixture. A damper assembly that selectively provides outside air to the inside of the dust collecting cover is positioned within the dust collecting cover. When pressure within the vacuum cleaner is increased due to an excessive amount of foreign objects accumulated in the canister, the damper assembly is activated to allow entry of outside air to relive the internal pressure and avoid a fan motor overload. In this manner, the damper assembly can quickly react to an increase in internal pressure and avoid damage to the fan motor cause by an overload.
