Abstract: Disclosed is a moisture curable silane modified terpolymer comprising a polyether segment, a segment of polytetrahydrofuran or polycarbonate, a polysiloxane segment and terminal amino silane groups joined to the terpolymer via urethane linkages and wherein the polyether segment comprises at least 70% by weight based on the total weight of the silane modified terpolymer. Also disclosed is a method of forming moisture curable silane modified terpolymer.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for preparing polyorganosiloxanes by (i) condensation polymerization of at least one linear organosiloxane which has at least one hydroxy group or hydrolysable group bound to a silicon atom, (ii) ring-opening polymerization of at least one cyclosiloxane, or (iii) ring-opening polymerization and condensation polymerization of a mixture of at least one linear organosiloxane which has at least one hydroxy group or hydrolysable group bound to a silicon atom and at least one cyclosiloxane with a basic initiator and a hydroxy group-containing compound in the presence of a polar aprotic solvent, wherein the obtained polyorganosiloxanes are not miscible in the polar aprotic solvent at room temperature.

Abstract: A method for producing a hydroxyl-functionalized polysiloxane having secondary or tertiary hydroxyl groups, said method comprising the steps of: i) reacting a hydroxyalkyl allyl ether having a secondary or tertiary alcohol group with a siloxane under anhydrous conditions and under transition metal catalysis, said hydroxylalkyl allyl ether conforming to Formula (I) wherein n is 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, preferably 0; m is 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, preferably 1; spacer group A is constituted by a covalent bond or a C1-C20 alkylene group; R1 is hydrogen, a C1-C8 alkyl group, a C3-C10 cycloalkyl group, a C6-C18 aryl group or an aralkyl group; Ra, Rb, Rc, Rd, R2, R3, R4 and R5 may be the same or different and each is independently selected from hydrogen, a C1-C8 alkyl group, a C6-C18 aryl group or a C6-C18 aralkyl group, with the proviso that at least one of R3 and R4 is not hydrogen; and said siloxane conforming to Formula (II) wherein m is 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, preferably 1; R6, R7, R8 and R9 may be the same or different and each represent a C1-C8 alkyl group, a C3-C10 cycloalkyl group, a C6-C18 aryl group or a C6-C18 aralkyl group; and ii) in the presence of the reaction product of step i), performing a ring opening polymerization of at least one cyclic siloxane monomer.

Abstract: A method for producing a silylated polyurethane that comprises the following steps: (1) reacting at least one polyether polyol having a number average molecular weight of at least 2,000 g/mol with at least one polyisocyanate in the presence of at least one solvent; (2) reacting the reaction product of step (1) with at least one silane of formula (I) A-R—SiXYZ (I), where A means —NH2 or —NHB, wherein B stands for a branched or linear alkyl radical with 1-12 C atoms, possibly having functional groups, a cyclic alkyl radical having 5-8 C atoms, or an aryl radical, R is a divalent hydrocarbon radical having 1-12 C atoms, and X, Y, Z are substituents on the Si atom and are independently of each other C1-C8 alkyl, C1-C8 alkoxy or C1-C8 acyloxy groups, wherein at least one of radicals X, Y, Z is a C1-C8 alkoxy or C1-C8 acyloxy group, in the presence of at least one solvent. Further disclosed is a silylated polyurethane that can be produced by the method, a curable composition based thereon, and the use of such a composition as an adhesive, sealant and/or coating material.

Abstract: A silylated polyurethane obtainable by a process comprising the following steps: (a) reacting at least one polyol with at least one triisocyanate to form a hydroxyl-terminated polyurethane prepolymer, and (b) reacting said polyurethane prepolymer with at least one isocyanatosilane of the formula (1): OCN—R—Si—(X)m(R1)3-m, wherein m is 0, 1 or 2, each R1 is independently from each other a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an acyloxy group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, or —OCH(R2)COOR3, wherein R2 is hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R3 is a straight-chain or branched alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, each X is independently from each other and optionally substituted hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, which can be interrupted by at least one heteroatom, and R is a difunctional organic group, to endcap the hydroxyl groups on said prepolymer with said isocyanatosilane. The silylated polyurethanes are suitable for use in a preparation as an adhesive, sealant, or coating agent.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a procedure in which a functionalized polysiloxane is synthesized in the presence of a platinum catalyst, and halogen-functionalized polysiloxanes obtained according to the procedure. The procedure is defined herein by reacting a) at least one polysiloxane comprising at least one hydrogen atom bonded to a silicon atom; b) at least one heterocyclic compound; and c) at least one halogen-containing compound, wherein the reaction is catalyzed by at least one platinum catalyst. The synthetic pathway is described as a halosilation reaction in which a heterocyclic molecule is ring-opened in the presence of a platinum catalyst and a halogen source, resulting in a formal insertion of the opened heterocycle into the SiH bond. On the final product, the heteroatom of the former heterocycle is bonded to the silicon atom from the former hydrosiloxane moiety while the halogen is bonded to the last carbon atom of the opened chain.
