In one example, a method for controlling a supercharger comprises, responsive to requested torque exceeding spark authority of an engine, varying a current applied to a motor of the supercharger to provide an amount of torque to a crankshaft of the engine. In this way, a supercharger can be controlled to compensate for an engine torque shortfall.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for controlling boost pressure in a staged engine system comprising a turbocharger and an upstream electric supercharger based on altitude. During vehicle operation at higher altitudes, where vacuum availability for wastegate actuation is limited, boost pressure may be provided by operating the electric supercharger more aggressively. The wastegate may be used for boost control once the vacuum reserve is replenished.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for calibrating a compressor surge line. In one example, a method may include adjusting the compressor surge line based on a vehicle speed in addition to a compressor pressure ratio. For example, at higher vehicle speeds, above a threshold vehicle speed, a less aggressive surge line calibration may be utilized in order to improve drivability while at lower vehicle speeds, below the threshold vehicle speed, a more aggressive surge line calibration may be utilized for NVH mitigation.

摘要: Methods are provided for improving boost pressure control in a boosted engine system. In one example, in response to an operator actuated tip-in of an accelerator pedal, an air bypass around an air compressor supplying air to an air inlet of an engine may be opened for a predetermined time, and after the predetermined time, said air bypass may be increased in response to a ratio of outlet pressure to inlet pressure of said compressor being at or around a hard surge limit. In this way, by increasing the opening of the air bypass, compressor operation may be moved out of a hard/soft surge region.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for surge control in an engine system having multiple staged charge boosting devices. In one example, responsive to a drop in driver torque demand, compressed air is continued to be provided by operating a downstream intake compressor while accelerating an upstream compressor to reduce flow through the first compressor. By increasing the compressor pressure ratio at the first compressor via operation of the second compressor, surge is reduced without degrading boosted engine performance.
